About me
Welcome to Heidi de Zeeuw Therapy
Perhaps you are feeling overwhelmed, struggling with confidence, finding relationships difficult, or noticing patterns in your life that you don't fully understand. You may have spent years putting others first, trying to meet everyone's expectations while losing sight of your own needs. Perhaps something has happened that you are finding hard to process, or you are going through a period of change and feeling unsure of yourself or what comes next.
Sometimes it is hard to put into words exactly what is wrong. You might simply know that things don't feel quite right and want to understand yourself and what you are experiencing a little better.
Why I Became a Counsellor - From a young age, I remember having a genuine desire to help others. As I grew older, this developed into a passion for wanting people to feel truly seen, heard and accepted for who they are, and helping them recognise their strengths and potential.
Although my career initially took me in a different direction, I carried that same passion into over 20 years in the corporate world, where I supported and empowered others through my management roles. Later in life, I found my way back to something that had always felt important to me and began my journey towards becoming a counsellor.
My own experiences, including attending boarding school while my family lived overseas, have also shaped my understanding of how early experiences, relationships and life changes can influence how we see ourselves and relate to others.
I believe we all deserve to feel understood and accepted, without judgement or pressure to be someone we are not.
How I Work - At the heart of my approach is genuine human connection. I believe feeling safe, heard, and accepted within the therapeutic relationship is essential to exploring ourselves openly.
I offer an inclusive, accepting space where you can talk openly, process your experiences, and begin to make sense of your past or what you are going through right now.
As an Integrative Counsellor, I draw on Person-Centred Therapy, Transactional Analysis (TA) and Gestalt Therapy, bringing together different ways of working depending on your individual needs.
Person-Centred Therapy is at the heart of my approach. I bring compassion and genuine curiosity to our sessions, working alongside you, not telling you what you should think, feel or do. I hope that through feeling genuinely heard and understood, you can begin to explore your feelings more freely, recognise your own strengths and develop greater trust in yourself.
Through Transactional Analysis (TA), we might explore patterns that keep appearing in your life. Perhaps you put others’ needs before your own, find it difficult to say no, question yourself or notice similar difficulties arising in your relationships. Together, we can gently consider how earlier experiences may have shaped these patterns, how they affect you today and what you might need to begin responding differently.
Gestalt Therapy brings curiosity to what is happening for you in the here and now. Alongside exploring your thoughts and feelings, we might gently pay attention to what is happening in your body, perhaps noticing tension, changes in breathing or emotional responses as we talk. Sometimes these experiences can help us recognise feelings or needs that we have not yet found the words for, deepening our understanding of ourselves.
My approach is dynamic and collaborative, allowing us to explore both past and present experiences while remaining curious about what feels most important for you. Above all, I believe counselling should be shaped around you. We can work at a pace that feels comfortable, with space to explore what matters to you and what you hope to gain from our time together.
What You Can Expect from Counselling - You may be navigating anxiety, relationship difficulties, work pressures, burnout, bereavement, family challenges, perimenopause, neurodivergence or a period of change. Or perhaps something doesn't feel quite right, but you are not sure why.
Whatever brings you to counselling, I offer a space to pause, talk openly and begin to process what you have been through or what you are experiencing now. Somewhere you don't have to put on a brave face, have all the answers or worry about being judged.
Through our work together, you may begin to understand yourself more deeply, recognise how past experiences affect you today and develop a clearer sense of your feelings and needs. This growing awareness can help you build confidence, establish healthier boundaries, relate to others differently, and make choices that feel right for you.
You don't need to have everything worked out before coming to counselling. We can begin wherever you are.
If you feel my approach might be right for you, I would be very happy to hear from you, answer any questions and explore whether working together feels right.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
