About me
Chapters Therapy, offers professional counselling and psychotherapy services to people in Hertford and the surrounding areas for face to face sessions and people nationwide for online sessions.
I work in primarily in person centred way, meaning that I am non directive in my approach. However, I will draw on other modalities where appropriate. Taking the time to listen and understand where you are now, and to work towards where you want to be.
I have worked predominantly with clients with a Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) diagnosis helping them to identify where their behaviours and thought patterns developed and work on ways of coping with the overwhelming feelings that come hand in hand with the symptoms of BPD, and to get to a place that feels like they have regained control.
I have also worked extensively with people of all genders coming out of Domestic Abuse or prolonged exposure to a relationship with narcissistic & coercive people. We work together, in a non directive way, to identify patterns of behaviour to develop new pathways to break free from people pleasing and to find their voice and regain control of their lives.
I also offer face to face person centred couples therapy and will have space for new couples from April of this year.
We will work together to create a safe and supportive environment where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a confidential setting. I also work with those struggling with addiction, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma, sexual abuse & childhood trauma. We can work together, at your pace to help you navigate towards healing and growth.
Using therapeutic techniques, we can work together to help you to find the skills that will enable us to tackle the difficult and more painful areas that are difficult to address. Therapy isn't easy when we get to the root issues, however, with the right tools, we can go there safely in a way that's not too over-whelming and where it will be hard, when we work safely, that uncomfortable space, will become healing and growth.
If you are in need of professional support, Please get in touch for a free consultation to see if how I work, could be a fit for you.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
I offer therapy on mornings afternoons evenings and weekends on different days of the week, so there is always something to suit. Happy to work in person or online. The practice is a calm and restorative space located on the first floor so there are some stairs to climb. there is soft lighting so nothing too overwhelming or overstimulating if you are neurodivergent. If you require wheelchair access I have a different space also located in Hertford so do ask if needed.
