About me
*Please note that I am currently away until 9th September. Any enquiries received will be responded to on my return*
Hello, my name is Hannah. I am a registered Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist (Level 7) with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
I offer sessions in-person in Bristol or online from any location.
Coming to counselling and sharing your struggles with another can be a daunting experience. Central to my work as a therapist is to create a caring, compassionate, non-judgmental and respectful space. It is in such an environment that clients can begin to explore and understand themselves and their issues better and be supported towards their goals and desired change.
Being an integrative counsellor, I am trained in and draw on different approaches, namely Person-centred, Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (see https://www.bacp.co.uk/about-therapy/types-of-therapy/integrative-counselling/).
I work collaboratively with clients, using different elements of different approaches, depending on what feels most helpful to the client and supportive of our work. Together, we journey towards a better understanding of themselves and finding solutions to the difficulties they are experiencing.
I am able to work on a short-term basis, 6 to 12 sessions, or long term on an ongoing basis.
If you are interested in counselling with me, please see my website (www.serenuspsychotherapy.co.uk) where you can find out more about me and get more of a feel for if I am the right counsellor for you.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
