About me

I'm Hannah, a friendly, open-minded, and non-judgmental counsellor based in Buckhurst Hill, Woodford Green.

I help adults and children navigate periods of feeling flat, low, or overwhelmed. Together, we can explore issues such as stress, anxiety, and behavioural patterns that may no longer be serving you. We can identify practical steps towards positive change, helping you feel better, build confidence, and enjoy life more fully.

I understand that the thought of starting counselling can feel overwhelming. Sometimes life can leave us feeling stuck, with no clear way forward. Counselling can provide a space to gain insight, find hope, and discover a new path. If this resonates with you, please get in touch. We can take the next steps together in a safe, supportive, and respectful environment where you can share what is happening in your life right now, and we will explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified integrative counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Integrative counselling means that I draw on different therapeutic approaches depending on your individual needs and the issues you are facing.

For some people, having a quiet, supportive space to share their deepest thoughts and feelings is what they need most, particularly if they have felt overlooked, unheard, or unsupported in relationships or family life.

For others, exploring childhood experiences within a psychodynamic framework can be especially beneficial. This approach can help uncover how early experiences may be influencing current behaviours, patterns, and relationships.

For some clients, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) may be the most effective approach. CBT focuses on the here and now, helping you identify what is not working, develop practical solutions, and make meaningful changes. Taking action often helps reduce anxiety and increase a sense of control.

I tailor my sessions to each individual because no single approach fits everyone. I believe in understanding people as unique individuals. My practice celebrates difference and encourages self-awareness, self-acceptance, and personal growth.

I have experience working with both adults and children who have experienced trauma, grief, relationship difficulties, work-related issues, neurodivergence (including ADHD), and fertility-related issues.

I have also worked extensively with children and adolescents experiencing challenges such as school pressures, exams, friendships, confidence and self-esteem issues, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, and the impact of social media. Through this work, I have learned that every person is different and that counselling should be adapted to the individual's needs.

I also use movement and exercise-based techniques with some clients. These can be particularly helpful for people who find traditional counselling daunting or who struggle to sit and talk for long periods. Incorporating gentle movement alongside conversation can help reduce emotional intensity, build confidence, and support emotional processing. Exercise also releases dopamine and can make it easier for some people to engage in therapy and express themselves.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
