About me
Hello, I’m Graham.
I offer online counselling for men and women who may be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, stuck, or simply finding that life has become harder to manage.
You may be used to holding things together for other people while struggling on your own. Therapy can be somewhere you do not have to do that.
You do not need to know exactly what is wrong or how to explain it. We can start with whatever feels most important to you.
Anxiety, Stress and Low Self-Esteem
I work with people experiencing anxiety, stress, work pressure, low self-esteem, or a general feeling that they are carrying too much.
Sometimes there is a clear reason for how you feel. At other times, it can be hard to put into words. You may simply know that something does not feel right, or that life feels harder than it used to.
We can look at what is happening, what may be contributing to it, and what might support you.
ADHD, Autism and Neurodiversity
I work with autistic people, people with ADHD, and those with other forms of neurodivergence.
Many neurodivergent people spend years trying to fit in, hiding parts of themselves, or feeling misunderstood. Over time, this can lead to anxiety, exhaustion, self-doubt, relationship difficulties, or a feeling of never being quite enough.
You do not have to hide parts of yourself or explain your experience perfectly. We can explore your experiences, needs, strengths, and the ways you have learned to cope.
Trauma and Difficult Life Experiences
Sometimes the way we feel is connected to difficult relationships, loss, trauma, or experiences from the past. Life changes and long-standing patterns can also leave us feeling stuck or disconnected from ourselves.
We can gently explore what has happened, how it may still be affecting you, and what you need now.
You will not be pushed to talk about anything before you feel ready.
Counselling for Men
Many guys find it difficult to ask for support.
From an early age, men are often taught to stay strong, keep going, solve problems alone, and avoid showing weakness. This can make it harder to notice when things are becoming too much, let alone talk about what is going on.
Some guys worry that counselling will feel awkward, that they will be judged, or that they will be expected to talk about feelings in a way that does not feel natural.
I spent more than 30 years working in construction, much of it in social housing, and began my counselling training while I was still working as a plasterer. Working alongside men and women from different backgrounds gave me a good grounding in the pressures that can come with work, relationships, family life and responsibility, and the different ways people deal with them.
I understand that talking about what’s going on isn’t always easy, and you may not know where to start.
My way of working is down-to-earth, conversational and straightforward.
We might begin with what is happening at work, in your relationships, how you are reacting to things, or the ways you have been trying to cope. From there, we can begin to understand what may be going on underneath.
LGBTQ+ and Diverse Communities
I work with people from many different backgrounds and communities, including LGBTQ+ people and those from racialised and culturally diverse communities.
Your identity, experiences and point of view will be treated with respect.
I will not assume that I already understand your experience, but I will listen and be willing to learn what it means for you.
My Approach to Counselling
I see counselling as something we work on together through conversation and trying to make sense of what is happening for you.
I may offer a different way of looking at something you have shared, and we can explore together whether that feels useful or fits your experience.
My role is not to tell you what is true or what you should do, but to support you in understanding yourself more clearly and noticing where you may have more choice.
Support for Students and Trainee Counsellors
I also offer counselling for university students and trainee counsellors dealing with academic pressure, placements, identity, overwhelm, personal development, or life changes.
Counsellor training can bring personal experiences, relationships, and old patterns into greater awareness. Counselling can provide a separate and confidential space to explore what the training is bringing up for you, without feeling assessed or judged.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
