About me
About me
Many people I work with arrive feeling as though they’re “holding it all together” on the outside while quietly struggling on the inside. If that’s you, you’re not alone. I’m Dr Gracie McLaven, Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Director at Serendipity Psychology Services. I specialise in trauma, attachment difficulties, anxiety, and depression. I work with adults (and parents) and young people.
How I work
Therapy with me is collaborative, compassionate, and paced to suit you. I draw on gold-standard, evidence-based approaches to design a plan that matches your goals and values.
Therapies I use
EMDR – Processes trauma and PTSD; also helpful for anxiety and low self-esteem.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) – Practical tools for anxiety, depression and unhelpful thinking patterns.
Internal Family Systems (IFS) – Helping you explore and heal different “parts” of yourself, reducing inner conflict and fostering self-compassion.
Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) – Strengthens connection, attachment and relationship repair.
Clients often come feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or uncertain. You don’t need the perfect words for what’s wrong, just a sense that something needs to change. We’ll work towards relief now and lasting, meaningful change over time.
Serendipity Psychology Services
I also lead a compassionate, multidisciplinary team of wonderful therapists. If I’m not the best fit, I’ll help you find the colleague who is. This team offers face-to-face sessions across Leicestershire, Peterborough & Cambridgeshire.
Accessible, tailored support – Our case manager listens to your needs and matches you with the right clinician.
Collaborative team – Clinical Psychologists, Psychotherapists, Counsellors and OTs share expertise for well-rounded care.
Evidence-based & flexible – Research-backed therapies, with lower-fee pathways available.

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
