About me
My name is Grace, founder of Graceful Minds Psychotherapy. I am a CBT therapist accredited with the BABCP. I am also a fully trained EMDR therapist (via an EMDR Europe approved trainer). I am excited to offer these well evidenced based psychotherapies to support you in understanding and relieving your mental distress. I provide a non judgemental, compassionate and grounding space for you to safely explore your current difficulties. I work with a range of different presentations to help people identify patterns in their thoughts, feelings and behaviours that may be keeping them stuck in damaging and unhealthy cycles. I also help people understand how their problems might have developed, but importantly to identify and focus on their goals and how to take steps towards them. I have particular interests in working with trauma, PTSD, OCD and low self esteem. I am a big believer in that one size does not fit all, and therefore take the time to really understand and appreciate your story and your struggle. I place emphasis on the therapeutic relationship as I know from experience (and the evidence!) that a strong relationship in the therapy room has one of the most significant impacts on your desired outcomes.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have over 10 years of experience learning and working within mental health care. I qualified as a Mental Health Nurse (RMN) from Oxford Brookes back in 2016, receiving a BA (Hons) from Oxford Brookes University. I remain registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) to date. I have experience in forensic inpatient and community settings, as well as drug and alcohol addiction recovery services. Being an RMN is an important part of my journey and something I am very proud of, and remain passionate about. I believe this helps me in my therapy to see you in a more holistic light.
I am currently working as a BABCP accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) within an NHS Specialist Adults Community Mental Health Team. Prior to this, I worked for an NHS primary care talking therapies service (previously known as IAPT). I feel this has given me a good range of knowledge and experience in working with many different mental health difficulties ranging from mild- moderate, to severe and enduring.
I am also fully trained in EMDR therapy, which has been a great addition to my therapy toolbox. I can use EMDR to support with a range of different mental health struggles, from PTSD and trauma to phobias and addictions.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The BABCP is the lead organisation for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in the UK. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the practice, theory or development of CBT. BABCP also provides accreditation for CBT therapists. BABCP accredited members adhere to the Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics in the Practice of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies, and are willing to be scrutinised in this adherence as required.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
I have an additional special interest in working with young athletes who aspire to reach heights in their chosen field of sport, primarily football. I can support those who may find themselves struggling to return after injury, difficulty managing anxiety within their game or training, or having trouble overcoming mental blocks or self esteem issues e.g. a high impact mistake, not getting selected for the squad, being shouted at or humiliated. Where performance difficulties are linked to distressing experiences, I can offer EMDR within an appropriate therapeutic framework.
