About me
Perhaps you have been holding things together for a while, but underneath you feel anxious, low or overwhelmed. You might be coping with a loss, finding relationships difficult, or struggling to understand how you feel. You do not need to have everything worked out before coming to counselling. We can begin with whatever feels most important to you.
Hello, I am Giuseppe, a qualified integrative counsellor and psychotherapist and a registered member of the BACP. I offer individual therapy for adults at Horizon Rising Practice in Chorley, as well as online and by telephone.
I aim to offer a warm, accepting space where you can speak openly, without feeling judged or pressured to be someone different. There is room for difficult feelings and things you have not yet found the words for. We will take time to understand your experiences and what you would like from therapy.
Being an integrative therapist means I draw on different approaches, adapting how we work to your needs and preferences. I welcome people from different backgrounds, identities and neurodivergent experiences. I am interested in understanding what life is like for you, rather than making assumptions about how you should think or feel.
If you would like to get a sense of whether we could work well together, I offer a free 20-minute introduction. This is an opportunity to discuss what brings you to counselling without committing to ongoing sessions. You can view my availability and book directly through my website, choosing a time that suits you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a Degree in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy awarded by Lancaster University.
I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and work in accordance with its Ethical Framework.
My integrative approach draws on person-centred therapy, cognitive behavioural approaches, solution-focused work, and psychodynamic and relational exploration.
I undertake regular clinical supervision and ongoing professional development to support thoughtful, ethical practice.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
