About me

Anxious? Depressed? Struggling?

I can help; I specialise in anxiety, depression and sleep problems. I can also help you overcome relationship issues, stress, suicidal thoughts, low self-confidence, trauma, or grief.

"Giovanna has helped me with my anxiety more than I could have imagined.” Mother of newborn who suffered from social anxiety, Bristol.

"I saw Giovanna for several sessions to treat my long term (20 years +) insomnia, She gave me practical tips and information to manage my sleep which has made a real, long-term difference. I can't thank her enough!" Teacher, Barnet.

“Giovanna has a naturally soft and caring nature - which immediately makes you feel cared for.”  Trauma survivor, Barnet.

How can I help you?

I can help you overcome what is happening in your life that you would like to change.  I can also help you gain understanding, discover your own innate resources and find solutions.  I don’t just listen; I will use the latest psychotherapeutic tools and techniques to help you overcome whatever difficulties you’re facing. My aim is to help you feel better from the very first session.

How long are the sessions?

The first session is usually 90 minutes and the following sessions are about 60 minutes.

How long do I need to see you?

Everyone is different but on average about four to six sessions.  Some people I see for just two sessions and some people for about 8. I strive to help people in as few sessions as possible.

What is Human Givens counselling/psychotherapy?

Human Givens is a school of therapy that is based on current psychotherapeutic research and techniques to help people make significant and long-lasting changes to their lives.

Compared to other forms of counselling, Human Givens has been proven to be highly effective in fewer sessions. Research published in Psychology and Psychotherapy: Theory, showed that more than three in four clients were either symptom-free or significantly recovered in an average of only 3.6 sessions after seeing a Human Givens therapist.

Where do you work?

I work over Zoom, FaceTime or phone. I also see people in person from my garden room in Barnet, North London.

My beautiful garden room is at the end of a 100ft therapeutic garden.  My therapy room is a seven minute walk from New Barnet overground station, 20 minute walk from Cockfosters tube station or a five minute walk from five different bus routes. There is free parking outside the property.

Access to the room is through a side gate separate from the house. The room has a large angled window that captures the garden’s deep borders of meadow-like planting, olive trees and mature apple trees.  I have a special interest in how nature positively affects wellbeing.
