Psychotherapist with a passion for helping.

About me

Hello :)

Whatever is going on for you, I am interested and care to know.  I am here to accompany you on the unique journey of  being you.  My therapy room is in Kirkcudbright ,where we can meet face to face. If this is too far to travel, I am also available to meet online.

I am a warm, insightful and grounded Psychotherapist. I place psychological safety ( in a nutshell , for you to be completely you)   and empowerment, at the heart of my practice. I offer a calm, attentive presence where you can feel met as you are, with care, respect and definitely no judgement.

My professional background includes being  appointed as a Non-Executive Director within Scottish Government, where I trained in Values Based Reflective Practice. This experience deepened my commitment to ethical, assertive and  reflective leadership. It  strengthened my ability to hold layers of  complexity, whilst remaining  grounded in values-led decision making and compassionate leadership.

I have undertaken training in trauma healing and  emotional intelligence. This has enhanced my  capacity to work with emotional nuance, attunement, and relational awareness.

I am clinically trained in functioning and attachment-focused approaches. What this lends me is  a thoughtful, and psychologically attuned lens to how early relationships shape our present experience. I  can support  you in developing deeper insight, greater emotional stability, and more secure ways of relating to self and others.

Across all aspects of my  work, I   bring depth, warmth, and a strong belief in our capacity to grow, heal, and lead our  lives with greater clarity, compassion, and authenticity.

I provide you with  a confidential and safe space. I  will be alongside you, your co-pilot,  where we will navigate the mountain peaks together.

Good  therapy comes from within a safe, trusting, empathic and truthful relationship. This is what I bring to you as well as a high level of psychotherapeutic training and experience with a great sense of humour, warmth and playfulness. You may even leave sessions smiling sometimes :).

In exchange for your courage, I  offer you an authentic invitation to  explore unfamiliar  and unchartered emotional territory, in the hope that useful new solutions for safety and  action will emerge. Always remember, you are the expert on your life. You are the boss of you,  and I am the boss of me.  Us two bosses can come together and the posibilitiies are endless :)

Psychotherapy can help when life feels hard.  We will work as a team, so you feel supported, encouraged and  empowered to bring about  meaningful changes to  increase your wellbeing and enjoyment of life.

Text or Email me for an appointment.  All that you bring is very welcome. I look forward to hearing from you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
