About me

Hi, I'm Gemma. As a visitor here you may be looking for some support while navigating life’s ups and downs. Perhaps life changes are making living your everyday life seem difficult, or even hopeless? Maybe you feel overwhelmed while trying to decide upon a new direction? Or you may have deeper feelings and ways of being that you wish to explore and nurture.

Whatever your reason for seeking therapy, my gentle and respectful approach can help.

As a person-centred counsellor I walk with you as you choose the direction and pace of your sessions. I will listen empathetically and without judgement. This will allow a deeper exploration and insight into why you act, think, or feel as you do. As you learn more about yourself, you may then wish to work on implementing changes that lead to a happier, more fulfilled life.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully qualified counsellor and hold a CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. My qualifications and continuing professional development include:

  • CPCAB Certificate in Counselling Studies
  • CPCAB Certificate in Counselling Skills
  • Safeguarding Training
  • Certificate in Online and Telephone Counselling, enabling me to work safely with clients remotely.

I have significant experience supporting young people aged 18–24 during times of transition, change, and uncertainty. Many young adults come to therapy feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, low mood, financial or work pressures, relationship difficulties, loneliness, or a sense of not knowing who they are or where they are heading. I provide a supportive, non-judgemental space to explore these concerns, helping clients build resilience, self-understanding, and confidence as they find their feet in early adulthood.

Alongside this, I have experience working in domestic abuse services for both male and female survivors, and on a perinatal depression helpline. In my private practice, I support clients with a wide range of issues, including:

• Anxiety
• Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)
• Depression
• Domestic abuse
• Family dynamics
• Grief and loss
• Low self-esteem
• Life transitions and identity
• Perimenopause and menopause
• Perinatal mental health
• Relationships
• Stress and overwhelm
• Women’s health

This list is not exhaustive, and sometimes our needs do not neatly ‘fit’ into a tick box. If you are facing obstacles to your wellbeing that are not listed here, please get in touch so we can discuss how I might support you.

I am an accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) and abide by their code of ethics. This register is accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
