About me
You don't have to keep holding everything together on your own.
Perhaps you're the person everyone turns to. You care for your family, support the people around you and keep going because there always seems to be something else that needs doing. But underneath it all, you may be exhausted, overwhelmed or wondering where you fit into everything.
Maybe you've experienced a loss, trauma or significant change that has left you struggling to make sense of life as it is now. Perhaps you're dealing with anxiety, low mood, stress, relationship difficulties or low self-esteem. Or you may simply have reached a point where you know something needs to change, but you're not sure what comes next.
You may not even be sure whether counselling is right for you, know exactly what you want to talk about or have everything worked out before reaching out.
Sometimes you simply need somewhere to put down the things you've been carrying.
That's where counselling can help.
My aim is to provide a safe, welcoming and non-judgemental space where you can be yourself, explore what you're experiencing and begin to understand what you need.
Whether you're struggling with something that has happened recently or carrying experiences from the past, we can work together at a pace that feels manageable for you.
You don't have to rewrite the past, but you can begin to author what comes next.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a BACP-registered integrative counsellor with a BSc (Hons) in Counselling.
My training and experience have enabled me to work with adults, young people and carers experiencing a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties.
I have experience supporting people with:
• Anxiety, stress and feeling overwhelmed
• Depression and low mood
• Bereavement, grief and anticipatory loss
• Trauma and difficult life experiences
• Low self-esteem and confidence
• Relationship and family difficulties
• Caring responsibilities and carer stress
• Parenting and family challenges
• Adoption-related experiences
• Abuse and difficult relationships
• Young people's emotional wellbeing
I have particular experience working with carers. Being a carer or parent can bring enormous love alongside exhaustion, guilt, frustration, sadness and a loss of identity. You can be deeply committed to someone and still need somewhere to talk about how difficult things can be. These feelings don't make you selfish or uncaring.
My integrative training allows me to draw from a range of therapeutic approaches, including person-centred, CBT, psychodynamic and creative approaches. I tailor our work to the individual rather than expecting everyone to fit the same therapeutic model.
I undertake ongoing professional development to continue developing my knowledge and therapeutic practice.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

What is counselling with me like?
Starting counselling can feel daunting, particularly if you've never spoken to a counsellor before.
You don't need to know what to say, where to start or even whether you can explain what's wrong.
My approach is warm, compassionate and non-judgemental. I won't tell you what you should do or expect you to have all the answers. Instead, we'll work together to understand what's happening for you and explore what might help.
I work integratively, which means I can draw on different therapeutic approaches depending on your needs. Alongside talking therapy, I can also incorporate creative approaches where appropriate. You don't need to be 'good at art' and you won't be asked to do anything you're uncomfortable with.
Most importantly, our sessions are your space.
You can talk about things you may not feel able to discuss with family or friends. You can explore difficult feelings without having to protect somebody else's feelings. You can take your time.
Face-to-face and online counselling
I offer face-to-face counselling in Gateshead and online counselling.
Sessions are £45.
I also have a small number of concessionary spaces available for students and trainee counsellors. Please contact me for current availability.
Not sure whether I'm the right counsellor for you?
That's completely okay.
I offer a free 15-minute introductory call so that you can tell me a little about what is bringing you to counselling, ask any questions and get a feel for whether you would feel comfortable working with me.
There is no pressure to book afterwards.
If you're ready to take that first step, please get in touch.
We can't rewrite the past, but you can author what comes next.
