About me
Hello! My name is Frederika and I'm a fully qualified counsellor and psychotherapist; working in this field for over 15 years. I am also a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I never take for granted how courageous it is to start the therapy journey and I am here for you every step of the way.
No matter who I am working with, I work in a completely non-judgmental and confidential way, with a foundation of empathy and unconditional positive regard for my clients. Every client is worthy of getting support, and to be truly seen and valued in our time and space together.
I have worked in a variety of settings with a range of client groups; from prisons, to addiction rehabs, to working in the private sector with employees of corporate companies, to working with clients in my own private practice. I believe that working in these vastly different settings has made me a more well-rounded and experienced therapist, where no issue is too heavy or too light to work through together.
I have extensive experience in helping clients with trauma (childhood and adult), stress, depression, anxiety, bereavement and loss, addictions, domestic abuse (physical, emotional, sexual), relationship issues, boundaries, work/life balance, intimacy, anger management, self-esteem and confidence. I am here to offer a safe and nurturing space to uncover and explore matters that are important to you and your life moving forward.
I work integratively, utilising different therapeutic approaches including Humanistic, Psychodynamic, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). My belief is that there should not be a 'one size fits all' attitude to therapy, where one approach is deemed more important than another. Being trained integratively means I can tailor our sessions to fit your needs and personality.
It is such a privilege to be a therapist and for clients to bravely open up about their lives. Please do get in touch if you would like to find out more about my work and see if we might be a good fit together. I offer an initial free 20 minute telephone call or online session.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a fully qualified counsellor and psychotherapist and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I have also been trained in Motivational Interviewing, Professional Boundaries, Hearing Voices (psychosis), Trauma Informed Practice, Personality Disorders, Mental Health First Aid, Safeguarding, Domestic Violence, Sexual Abuse, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, and Anti-Racism
I have always had a passion for understanding people, their beliefs, and backgrounds. It was for this reason that I chose to study Theology and Religious Studies at the University of Cambridge for my undergraduate degree, before completing my Masters Degree shortly after.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
