About me
I’m Frank, a person-centred counsellor and therapist based in Leeds and Ilkley, West Yorkshire. I work with adults of all ages and backgrounds with a range of issues.
People come to therapy for many reasons: major life changes, challenges, past traumas and more - maybe there's something in your life you find yourself unable to ignore, like depression or anxiety, or perhaps you’re feeling as though happiness and fulfilment are somehow out of reach or struggling with low self-esteem. I offer person-centred therapy: space and time to centre yourself in your own experience and explore what's going on for you in a safe, confidential, non-judgemental environment. I help you to make sense of the challenging, confusing things in your life, to find answers to what troubles you. Together we work to understand you better, to process painful and challenging experiences and to make positive changes in your life.
I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), which means I've demonstrated a high standard of knowledge and experience in my professional work as a counsellor and therapist.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, which focused specifically on the Person-Centred Approach, and a Certificate in Counselling Skills. I trained in London and worked at two low-cost counselling services in local communities during the pandemic, before relocating to West Yorkshire and setting up my private practice.
In private practice, I work with a wide range of people facing all sorts of challenges: anxiety, depression, trauma, low self-esteem, relationship issues and much more. I work to bring myself in a human, supportive way for my clients - it's the connection that matters.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Please see my website for a list of some of the issues with which I have experience working. The person-centred approach is a flexible, responsive way of working that can be effective with a variety of issues. Most importantly, I'd say feeling we 'click' is useful, so I offer a free introductory call to give you a chance to sound me out.

Further information
I work out of two group practices: Evolve on Park Square in Leeds, and The Grove in the centre of Ilkley. Both are set up exclusively for counselling and therapy, so have quiet rooms, comfortable chairs, tea and coffee facilities and toilet facilities. They are both well located near transport links too.
In terms of how I work, I'm a person-centred therapist, which means placing you and your experience at the heart of the work is central to what I do. My goal is to bring myself fully to our work, to listen to what you say - and don't say - and to understand your emotional experiences in a way that can facilitate change and growth for you. The person-centred approach is flexible and responsive, so we can shape therapy in a way that meets your needs and adjust what we focus on to ensure you're getting support in the way you want it.
For all clients, I suggest an initial call to give you a chance to sound me out and so that we can both learn a little bit more about each other. If you feel we're a good fit and you have the information you need to proceed, we'll book a session and go from there.
