About me

I am an M.A qualified Psychological Psychotherapist with over 22 years of experience in various settings working with children, young people (5-25) and their families. I engage with and support children, young people and families within therapeutic relationships, to work through various personal-psychological challenges.

I am a warm, authentic individual providing bespoke therapy interventions to meet the complexity of individual, group and family needs. I offer a safe space and supportive approaches without fear of judgement or discrimination.

I am experienced in working with people who look like me and those who do not. I have a specialist understanding and experience of working-class socioeconomic backgrounds, Black Caribbean, African, and diverse global majority backgrounds and heritage.

Practice description:

My approach of supporting you in exploring experiences, unconscious thoughts, feelings and behaviours has been developed by Psychodynamic theory and practice. I align the therapy I provide with the individual needs of the client. I also draw on various approaches from my training and experience. These include Play-based therapy, Mindfulness breath-work and visualisations, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Systemic and Trauma-informed principles.

What you bring and how you lead sessions can bring about further exploration suitable to your needs. To better understand your present experiences, this can include informing of Psychological and Neuroscience functions and supporting goal setting.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Masters's Degree qualification undertaken at the world-renowned Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust, a leader in pioneering emotional and psychological wellbeing treatments and theories.

I have extensive experience engaging and supporting a diverse mix of children, young people, and families. Working across genders, cultures, socioeconomic, neurodivergent, faith and non-faith backgrounds of clients. Within a range of environments including, Children's Centres, Primary and Secondary schools, charities (Place2Be, UpFoundation and Caspari Foundation), Camden Openminded - Children Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) and private practice.  As a former Childcare and Education Practitioner, I hold a Diploma in Childcare and Education and also trained and have held positions in Safeguarding, Management and as a Learning Mentor,

I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). I work following the ethos and guidelines of the association. I am qualified and experienced in the clinical practice of Child and Family Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Play-based therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Systemic Approach and Mindfulness.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
