Psychotherapeutic Counsellor MBACP, PGDip, BA (Hons)
Hurstpierpoint BN6 & Haywards Heath RH16

About me

I’m a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor, offering a calm, supportive and confidential space where you will be heard without judgement.

Whatever brings you to counselling, talking about it can feel daunting. Having a point in the week to take time for yourself can provide a much-needed pause to think and reflect.

I have trained in CBT and may bring these techniques into the therapy to complement my psychodynamic approach.

I offer both open-ended and time-limited therapy, either in-person at the peaceful rooms in Hurst Therapy Centre, Hurstpierpoint or online.

I have experience working with a diverse range of clients and am committed to an inclusive practice.

How can counselling help me?

People come to see me to talk about all sorts of problems in their lives. It might be that you feel stuck, perhaps repeating a familiar pattern and wish to make changes but are unsure of the way forward. You may be feeling depressed, anxious or overwhelmed, finding it hard to manage challenges in your life. Or you may be experiencing a significant life transition and trying to make sense of what this means for you. Whatever you are facing, we will explore it together with compassion and curiosity.

Building a therapeutic relationship with each client is of central importance to me. This is your time each week to think about what’s happening in your life, tell your story and reflect on how you feel. This process can deepen self‑knowledge and help you understand patterns that may have developed earlier in life but are still shaping how you feel and relate today.

What can I expect?

Sessions are 50 minutes long and take place at the same time each week. Depending on your preference these are either face-to-face in the peaceful rooms at Hurst Therapy Centre or online.

I work psychodynamically – meaning that I am interested in the things that are bringing you to therapy now whilst also curious about your earlier experiences. Thinking together about how past experiences may be influencing the present can bring clarity and open up new ways of understanding yourself and your relationships. Our day-to-day behaviours, emotions and thoughts are influenced by our early relationships and experiences and what we made of them. Exploring this together can help untangle how you’re feeling. This process can deepen how well you know yourself and open up new ways of relating to others.

I adhere to the BACP’s ethical guidelines at all times, offering a private space to hear whatever might be on your mind.

Please note that rooms at Hurst Therapy Centre are accessible via stairs.

Next steps…

I offer a free introductory phone call. This gives an opportunity for us to talk about what brings you to therapy and what you are looking to gain from the sessions. This is also a chance to ask any questions you might have before deciding to work together. Many people find this first conversation helpful in sensing whether the way I work feels like a good fit.

If this feels like the time to start counselling, contact me to set up an initial conversation.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
