About me
I’m a UKCP-registered Family and Systemic Psychotherapist working with individuals, couples and families.
I’m naturally curious and fairly straightforward. I’m not a therapist who will sit silently and leave you wondering what I’m thinking. I’ll ask questions, share observations and, when it feels useful, gently challenge some of the ideas or patterns we uncover together.
Therapy with me doesn’t have to feel overly formal. There can be humour, disagreement, awkward moments and moments where we don’t immediately know what to say. I take the work seriously, but that doesn’t mean every minute of a session needs to feel serious. I want there to be room for you to speak as you actually speak and to tell me when I’ve misunderstood something.
My approach is systemic, which means I’m interested not only in what is happening for you, but also in the relationships, experiences and wider contexts that may have shaped it. With couples and families, I’m not there to decide who is right or who needs to change. Instead, we can explore the different perspectives within a relationship, the positions people have found themselves in, and the patterns that can keep people stuck.
Culture and faith can also be an important part of this wider picture. They can shape how we understand family, relationships, responsibility, marriage, parenting, gender and what it means to seek help. I won’t assume what either means to you, but where they matter, there is room for them in our work.
My clinical background includes specialist mental health services and NHS CAMHS, where I have worked with children, young people, adults and families experiencing significant distress. This has included self-harm and suicidal risk, eating disorders, trauma, neurodivergence and complex family or relationship difficulties. I’m comfortable working where several things may be happening at once or where previous ways of understanding a difficulty haven’t quite captured the whole picture.
Although my training is systemic, you don’t need to come to therapy with your family. I work individually too, while still making space to think about the relationships, histories and wider contexts that have shaped you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a BSc (Hons) in Psychology from Goldsmiths, University of London, and a PGCert and MSc in Family and Systemic Psychotherapy from King’s College London. I am registered with the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).
I have several years of experience working across NHS and private mental health services, including CAMHS, adult mental health and specialist eating disorder services. I have experience working with children, young people, adults, couples and families across a wide range of emotional, relational and mental health difficulties, including more complex presentations.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
