About me

I'm Farheen Hasan, an NCPS-registered counsellor and psychologist offering confidential, non-judgemental therapy across the UK. I work with clients facing trauma, addiction, body dysmorphia, grief, anxiety and depression, amongst other concerns.

My approach is client-led and integrative, grounded in humanistic and relational therapy, and drawing on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Gestalt Therapy and Transactional Analysis. I work through a cross-cultural, intersectional lens, recognising that identity, culture and language shape how we experience the world. I also use psycho-education throughout our work together, so you leave each session with a clearer understanding of your own process. Sessions can be open-ended or for a fixed number of sessions, depending on what suits you.

Before training as a counsellor, I spent several years as an academic researcher studying mental health and body image across cultures, and have since worked with a London charity supporting young people through complex mental health concerns. I bring that research grounding into my practice today, alongside my counselling experience.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Level 4 Counselling Diploma alongside an M.Sc. in Psychological Studies, and an M.Sc. in Health Psychology. Since my training, I have been working at a charity in London, with young adults across a range of mental health concerns.

I also have significant experience working as a research psychologist, primarily researching body image and eating disorders across different cultures.

Further information

I work with a client-led integrative approach, which is dynamic and evolves with each client. My approach is grounded in the humanistic and relational approach, and also involves approaches from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Gestalt Therapy and Transactional Analysis. I work from a cross-cultural and intersectional lens, as I believe our identity, culture and language shapes our experience of the world and how we experience it. Additionally, I use psychoeducation and work with my clients to provide them context and tools to better understand their therapeutic journey and the work we are doing.

I work with an open-ended approach as well as on a fixed number of sessions, based on the clients preference.
