About me

I'm Emma Robertson, a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, trained in Person-Centred Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). I’m also trained in hypnotherapy, which can be offered as part of the counselling service or as part of a single service. I tailor our counselling sessions to meet your specific needs in an empathetic, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you feel comfortable and safe.

I’ve always had a passion and interest in the human psyche. I have a BSc in Psychology, a Professional Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling and a Professional Diploma in Hypnotherapy. I’m also a trained Designated Safeguard Lead and hold an enhanced disclosure check. I have worked for a number of years in a secondary school supporting children and young people 11-18 years old. Alongside this, I have worked for a charitable counselling agency supporting adults with wide-ranging presenting issues and difficulties.

Taking a pluralistic approach, I focus on working collaboratively with you to agree on which psychotherapeutic modalities feel right to you and will be most effective during therapy. A person-centred approach is at the heart of everything I do within counselling, and building a strong working relationship with you is key to maximising success - a good relationship and trust between you and your counsellor is essential for effective therapy.

As a psychotherapeutic counsellor, it feels like such a privilege to be invited into a clients’ inner world, and it is so rewarding to see my clients transform and make positive changes, leaving therapy with the tools needed so they begin to thrive in all aspects of their lives.
