About me
I’m Emily, a qualified counsellor and play therapist. I appreciate that for many, finding the words to express the inner most feelings can be hard. To support with this, I aim to make the therapy fit the client, rather than the client fit the therapy through an integrative approach, bringing together different modalities. The modalities I mostly work with are person-centred, CBT and psychodynamic. I am also very passionate about the use of more creative tools in counselling such as sand trays, art and metaphor. I also incorporate elements of psychoeducation.
In our counselling sessions, I offer a space that is compassions and non-judgmental, allowing clients to explore a range of issues including, but not limited to: depression, anxiety, low mood, bereavement, relationship problems and loneliness. A considerable number of my clients have been neurodivergent and members of the LGBTQ+ community, both of which I have lived experience of.
What to Expect
When attending counselling, the relationship is crucial, and the first step is often the hardest. I offer a free 20 minute, no obligation phone or Zoom consultation to allow you to decide if I am the right fit for you. In our first session we will explore how we will work together, looking at what has bought you to counselling and what you would like to get from it.
In your first session, we would then explore this further, getting your goals and perhaps a time frame for the counselling to take place over. We would also look at how you would like to work together, taking into consideration any previous experience of counselling you may or may not have had and if there was anything you found worked well or didn’t work so well.
What I offer
I am currently offering counselling sessions to adults and adolescents (aged 12+). These sessions are either face to face in Sidcup or online for clients anywhere in the UK. Sessions last 50 minutes and are priced at £65 per session.
I also offer single session therapy.
Please note: Due to the nature of play therapy and the appropriate space required, I am currently not offering this in private practice, although where appropriate, I am able to incorporate some of these tools in my counselling sessions.
I hold a full enhanced DBS check.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
