About me
I’m Emily, a qualified counsellor and play therapist. I appreciate that for many clients, finding the words to express the inner most feelings can be hard. To help support clients with this and to help meet their unique needs, I work with an integrative approach. This means that I bring together different modalities to meet the needs of the individual client. Something that I can bring into sessions is the use of creative tools, such as art and sand trays for when it can be hard to find the words. I also work primarily with the person-centred, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) approaches. I can also incorporate elements of psychoeducation.
I offer a compassionate and non-judgemental space to help clients to explore a range of issues such as, but not limited to depression, anxiety, low mood, bereavement relationship problems, and loneliness. I have also completed training in adoption support counselling. A considerable number of my clients have been a part of the neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ communities.
What to Expect
When attending counselling, the relationship is crucial, and the first step is often the hardest. I offer a free 20 minute, no obligation phone consultation to allow you to decide if I am the right fit for you. In our first session we will explore how we will work together, looking at what has bought you to counselling and any goals you would like to set.
What I offer
I am currently offering counselling sessions to adults and adolescents (aged 12+). These sessions are either face to face in Sidcup or online. Sessions last 50 minutes and are priced at £60 per session.
Please note: Due to the nature of play therapy and the appropriate space required, I am currently not offering this in private practice, although am able to incorporate some of these tools in my counselling sessions.
I hold a full enhanced DBS check.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
