About me
Hello. I'm Emily, an integrative therapist and bereavement counsellor based in London. I work 1-1 with adults (18+) experiencing common mental-health problems including; anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relational issues, grief and loss.
I am here to help you get to know yourself and explore the ways in which you exist and relate to the world around you. I offer a compassionate and welcoming space where you can feel seen, heard and accepted as yourself. Together, we can explore the reasons that brought you to therapy and begin to unpack your current and historical thought processes and behavioural patterns. Counselling is not about giving you solutions or advice, instead the aim is to empower you to make your own choices and changes.
I truly believe that a safe therapeutic relationship can be a catalyst for healing and that the power of human connection should never be underestimated. Therapy is not just for individuals who are struggling, but for those who want to improve their general wellbeing and lead a meaningful and fulfilling life. Therapy gives you the opportunity to cultivate your relationship with yourself and develop inner resources that will help you feel better equipped to navigate life.
I integrate different modalities and theory into my practice including:
Attachment Theory - this explores how people form emotional bonds, especially with their primary caregivers during infancy and how this can influence their relationships as adults.
Polyvagal Theory - this looks at how the nervous system influences emotion regulation, social connection and fear responses.
Existential Psychotherapy - this uses philosophical ideas to help people understand their place in the world. It focuses on the human condition and the choices people make about how they live their lives.
Training, qualifications & experience
I trained for four years at The Minster Centre in London, one of the longest established and leading Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling training institutions in Europe.
My integrative training means I use a variety of different therapeutic modalities and clinical theory to best suit the needs of my clients. Whilst I may integrate theory and tools from these approaches into our work, my focus will be on creating a warm and empathetic environment for us to build a safe therapeutic relationship.
I have been a bereavement counsellor for three years and continue to see clients through the Wandsworth Bereavement Service in London.
I am also trained in Mental Health First Aid (MHFA England), Suicide First Aid (Living Works), and I volunteered with Samaritans on the phonelines.
I am an ambassador for a UK based suicide bereavement charity and for the past five years I have worked for a mental health charity in London.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I uphold and abide by the BACP’s Ethical Framework. I am also fully insured as a private practitioner.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
