About me
Hi, I’m Emily, a therapist based in Cornwall with a strong belief in the importance of kindness, connection, and allowing people to be themselves.
Before I’m a counsellor, I’m a human. I’m imperfect, and I’ve faced my own challenges. It’s these experiences and the insights they’ve given me that drew me to the profession and continue to shape how I work.
Human beings are complex, and life isn’t always black and white. We all have our own unique ways of seeing the world and multiple layers that make up who we are.
I’d like to offer you a space that feels down-to-earth, warm, and genuine. I appreciate that many of us fear judgement, particularly when we are sharing parts of ourselves that feel most vulnerable. The hope is that, within our work together, you’ll feel at ease knowing that you will be met with empathy, curiosity, and acceptance.
My own experiences of therapy have also given me an understanding of what it’s like to be in your shoes as a client, as well as the difference that having a safe and supportive environment can make.
You are the expert on your situation. My aim is to walk alongside you, creating opportunities to explore things at your own pace and in your own way. Through our work together, we can help you develop greater self-awareness and find a route forward.
You might seek counselling because you’re struggling with something specific, or perhaps you’re just not feeling quite at peace with your circumstances. Whatever brings you here, we can take some time to get to know each other and work out what’s going on for you.
There’s no need to have everything figured out or your thoughts neatly organised before you attend counselling. You can bring things exactly as they are, messy, jumbled, or however they come. If you need to swear, cry, or use humour along the way, that’s absolutely welcome too.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a professional qualification in person-centred counselling and have gained over 100 hours of experience with Ratcliffe & Brown CIC and the CCI Counselling Service, working with a range of presenting issues.
My qualifications include:
- Level 5 Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling and Therapy
- Level 4 Certificate in Advanced Counselling Studies
- Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills
My practice is guided by the principles and ethical standards of the BACP. Regular supervision and ongoing professional development support my continued learning.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
I offer a free 15-minute telephone consultation, giving us an opportunity to have an initial chat, answer any questions you may have, and find out whether I’m someone you feel comfortable speaking to.
Although I’ve listed many of the areas I have encountered so far, please don’t feel limited by these. I am happy to discuss what you’re going through and see if working together seems right.
Sessions currently take place via video or phone call, with plans to introduce face-to-face appointments in the future. Walk-and-talk therapy is also an option, if that’s something you’d be interested in.
If you would like to find out more, you’re welcome to contact me by text or email.
