About me

"Trust, empathy, communication and partnership are at the heart of my practice. I want to empower my clients to connect with their inner world so they can process their emotion, regain their energy and be restored to themselves again."

Emily Pailthorpe is an Integrative Psychotherapist, Emotional Processing Coach and world-class performing musician who helps clients process emotion and find their optimum flow. Her pioneering approach has made her in demand internationally.

Emily's approach

Emily's kind, perceptive and non-judgemental presence, as well as her wealth of experience and knowledge, have made her invaluable to clients suffering with anxiety, past trauma and life's difficulties. She uses the latest research in neuroscience and theory-led techniques within a client-led therapeutic approach to deliver powerful, results-focused therapy which is transformational for clients. Clients experience deep healing of issues they have struggled with for years, many times even in one session.

For clients whose coping strategies have run out, when repressed experiences surface, emotional processing can be a vital and powerful tool. Additionally, the peak-performance side of Emily's practice will appeal to high-achieving and creative clients.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Testimonials

"When I came to see Emily I was in a dark place. I had tried therapy before and to be honest was sceptical that anything could help lift my mood and feel like myself again. The work with Emily was transformational: she was a fearless partner who gave me the courage to look at the deep trauma of my past. I always felt safe and held in our sessions and am incredibly grateful for the calm, caring wisdom she gave to me in our sessions. As our sessions have progressed, life feels lighter and I have found myself enjoying writing again."
Louise, screen-writer, LA

"A friend recommended I seek Emily's help when my marriage and young children were all feeling too much. I'd never had any therapy before: I didn't know if it could help and I was reluctant to spend money on myself - but my anxiety was bad  - I needed to do something. Emily was easy to talk with. She understood me, where I was coming from. In very few sessions I got back on track and I feel it was more than worth it. I would highly recommend her."
Richard, Financial Advisor, London

"I looked for counselling following the loss of my baby for medical reasons. I didn't know what to expect and felt very vulnerable sharing about such a sensitive subject. After the first session with Emily I felt at ease, I felt listened to without any judgement: understood and cared for. She helped me identify with my feelings; helped me to come to terms with these difficult feelings and work out how to navigate to move forward through grief. I am very grateful for my sessions with Emily; and often find myself  going back to her insightful words to help me through difficult times."
Ann, NHS client, London

" I can't thank Emily enough. It would not be an exaggeration to say that she saved my life. When we started working together I could hardly leave my house and now I am performing again. Emily was calm, unfazed, wise. I felt I could tell her anything and she would understand. I feel like I have a much better way of dealing with my demons now and I hold on to many of the things she and I spoke about."
