About me

PLEASE NOTE: I'M ON HOLIDAY UNTIL THE 16th APRIL.

It takes a lot of courage to reach out and ask for help. Whatever challenges you're facing, you don't need to do it alone. Therapy is a journey we go on together. I’ll be right beside you holding a confidential, safe, non-judgemental space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings. We can work together to help you process whatever difficulties you’re facing, and develop strategies that can move you towards a calmer, more stable and peaceful way of being.

I work with clients from all sorts of backgrounds who may be facing many different kinds of challenges including; anxiety, depression, eating disorders, or it might be that they simply want to create meaningful and lasting change in their lives. I also work with couples and with clients who have Autism and ADHD. And I'm specially trained to work with C-PTSD and trauma resulting from coercive control or domestic abuse in intimate relationships.

I'm an integrated psychotherapist and counsellor. That means I work using several different therapeutic approaches. Depending on the type of problem or issue you’d like help with, I can combine these approaches in a way that’s specific to your individual needs and your goals for therapy. I'm happy to work with your preferences and will also suggest different methods and techniques we could try if I feel they would be beneficial.

Therapy is most effective when clients are committed and attend sessions regularly and consistently. Weekly sessions are best practice, but I know that life and all its complications means keeping to a weekly session isn't always possible. So I'm happy to see clients fortnightly if it means being able to access therapy more easily.

Before our first session I suggest having a ten-minute call, so we can say hello, and also to give you an opportunity to outline your reasons for wanting to start therapy, as well as ask me any questions about what to expect.

To help me get a better idea of how you'd prefer to work with me, in our first session we'll cover your past experiences with therapy (if you have any). It's useful for me to know what you feel was helpful and what you feel didn't work so well. We can also use this first session to talk about what you'd like to get out of therapy and set some goals to work towards.

(Please note: my working hours are between 9am-3pm, Tuesday - Friday for both online and face-to-face sessions. I also work on Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 5-8pm)

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a post graduate diploma in counselling and psychotherapy and am currently studying for a masters.

I'm an integrated therapist, which means that I'm trained to work in several different therapeutic approaches. Depending on the type of problem or issue you’d like help with, I can use these approaches as necessary and combine them in a way that’s specific to your individual needs and your goals for therapy.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
