About me
Hello — I’m Elvira González Rubio, a warm, trauma-informed counsellor based in Corsham, Wiltshire. I support adults who are struggling with complex trauma, emotional overwhelm, long-term stress, addiction, and life transitions. I work in a way that is respectful, culturally aware, and tailored to each person’s unique experience.
I offer therapy in both English and Spanish, either in person or online, to make sure you can work in the way that feels right for you. My approach blends humanistic, integrative and somatic-informed work, focusing on creating a safe space where you can feel genuinely heard and understood.
How Counselling Can Help
Counselling can help you make sense of things that feel overwhelming, confusing, or painful. Together we can explore:
• anxiety and stress disorders
• trauma and post-traumatic reactions
• emotional dysregulation and burnout
• addiction and compulsive behaviours
• life transitions, loss and grief
• self-esteem and relationship challenges
Many of these patterns develop slowly and feel entrenched — therapy works by providing a consistent, supportive space where you can start to make sense of them and build new ways of coping that feel authentic to you.
What to Expect in Your First Session
Your first session is an opportunity for us to connect and understand what brings you to counselling. It usually includes:
• a chance to talk about what you’re hoping to work on
• a discussion about your feelings, struggles, and goals
• an explanation of how I work (approach, boundaries, confidentiality)
• an opportunity for you to ask questions
Expect the first session to be calm and client-centred. There is no pressure to share everything immediately — building trust takes time. The session is a collaborative space where you can decide whether you feel comfortable moving forward.
My Approach
I work in a trauma-informed, humanistic and integrative way, blending different therapeutic perspectives to suit your needs. This means:
• You remain at the centre of the work
• We explore both thoughts and bodily experience
• We focus on your current experience, not just the past
• The pace is guided by what feels safe and meaningful for you
Therapy isn’t a “quick fix” — it’s a process of understanding, integration, and growth. Many clients find that over time, they feel more grounded, more resilient, and better able to make choices aligned with their wellbeing.
How I Work
• Session length: typically 50 minutes
• Format: in-person (Corsham) or online
• Languages: English and Spanish
• Therapy styles: integrative, trauma-informed, somatic, humanistic
I offer a compassionate, non-judgemental space where you’re invited to explore what matters most to you.
