About me

I am an Integrative Counsellor, offering individuals confidential, face-to-face sessions at my registered office in Diss.

My approach is supportive, warm and non-judgemental. We work at your pace and to wherever your therapy journey takes you.

Strata: layers.

As the name Strata Counselling suggests, I understand that each person is uniquely formed by their experiences, challenges and chapters in life.

If you are feeling confused, overwhelmed, or worried about seeking support at this time, perhaps arrange a short (free of charge) telephone chat with me via the link above. We can just take it from there.

Experience

My curiosity about what it means to be human and the challenges that this can bring inspired me to seek a path in counselling.

I work to meet individuals where they are in their experience, and support them to explore their difficulties and improve their sense of self.

I believe that all of our experiences shape us... from our infant and childhood years through to the present.

I work creatively, particularly in a relational and psychodynamic style, with a variety of therapeutic facets that we can draw on at your pace as required.

I am experienced in working with those aged from 18 to 85+.

Clients that I have worked with have focused on  challenges such as;

  • anxiety and emotional overwhelm
  • depression
  • childhood trauma
  • self-esteem and self-worth
  • workplace bullying
  • health conditions
  • health anxiety
  • loss and bereavement
  • loneliness
  • identity issues
  • relationships and attachment
  • miscarriage
  • infidelity
  • feeling stuck, outdated patterns
  • self-blame struggles
  • working towards forgiveness
  • self-harm
  • eating disorders, disordered eating
  • life transitions such as redundancy, menopause, pregnancy, empty-nest

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

What might Counselling look like?

The counselling journey begins with a free and informal phone chat to clarify that we can work together, and to briefly discuss what brings you to therapy.

If things feel right for you and you wish to go ahead, we will arrange a day and time that suit you to begin. The first session will start with intake forms, and then we can begin at your pace.

Each session will be 50 minutes at a regular weekly slot. This commitment from me and from yourself is a fundamental part of how the therapeutic relationship evolves.

It is your therapy, and you may bring whatever content you need to each session as your process evolves or new challenges that arise.

Therapy is a safe space where you can cry, swear, and be honest, without the fear of rejection or judgement.
