About us
Food, eating or body image controlling your life?
Fed up with the constant conflict, mixed feelings or other people's comments? Dread waking up in the morning because your day is going to be dominated by thoughts of what to eat, what not to eat, planning tonight's binge, fitting in exercise, what clothes will fit, how fat or ugly you look, how you can you skip lunch, who you can avoid, where can you secretly purge, what you.... and so on and so on.....the never ending tormenting thoughts and feelings and habits and behaviours that just take you over and go on....and on....and on. Arghhhhhh!
It's never-ending, isn't it?
It just takes over the brain, doesn't it?
It just sucks the life out of you.
And no-one gets it, not really.
Well, if you've had enough of that s**t, read on because..... we get it.
Yeah, we get it. We get it big time. And, you know, some of us have even recovered from our own eating disorders or body image concerns in the past and we now help others who used to suffer like we did. It's why we specialise in eating disorders. disordered eating and body image.
Because we don't want others going through the s**t we did.
We don't want others feeling the dread, feeling the funny looks, agonising over the being dismissed by others and having to listen to that 'pull your socks up and just eat' crap we got. And so, here we are. We get it. We're real and we're authentic. And we're here to listen and support you, at your pace too.
You have somewhere to turn. Yes, you do!
You can turn to us. We are interested in YOU, yes, YOU - not your weight or whether you fit an eating disorder stereotype or not. We are interested in what's going on for, regardless of what you weigh, how you look, how often you eat/don't eat, how much you are sick, how often you exercise or what your age or shape is.
We are one of the few specialist eating disorder and body image support centres in Scotland. We have worked with 1000s of people in Scotland and across the UK (and beyond in psychotherapy, counselling and dietetics. We've also offered training, supervision, consultancy and employee services to other organisations.
And... the boring bit! We're also fully qualified therapists and dietitians, with professional insurance, professional memberships, ICO certification and have the training and experience in this area. Yes, we do, And not only that, we engage in regular supervision and ongoing professional development to ensure we offer you the best service we can. And, above all, because we know it's important to you - appointments are private and confidential.
We're here to walk that path to recovery and wellbeing with you. But we can only do that if you take that first step. We know it's scary. Some of us have been there. But, it's ok. We're walking right beside you. Take that step today.
Start saying f*ck off to that eating disorder or body image problem and start saying 'hell yeah!' to life again. You choose...........
Not sure? Get in touch anyway. It's still a step. And it's better to take a step than none at all.
Speak soon!

Approach/Modality/Experience
As we said in the intro section, some of us have personal experience of eating disorders and or body image concerns. Whether we have experienced it ourself or supported a loved one through an eating disorder or body image problem, we've been there. So, we have that understanding that many others don't.
It doesn't end there though! My team of therapists and dietitians have lots of experience working with individuals and groups affected by eating disorders and disordered eating. Whether that have past or present experience of working in other eating disorder services, eating disorder charities, NHS eating disorder departments or other eating disorder support services, they know their stuff. They feel passionately about helping people with eating disorders, disordered eating and body image because of their own personal or professional experience has inspired them to improve help and support and give the best, most tailored service they can, which is what we're all about.
Our director, Alexandra, feels so passionately about eating disorders and body image that she has worked in the filed for over 24 years and set up this practice in 2009 because of the lack of people-centred, supportive, understanding and compassionate services in Scotland. She was also director of the previous leading eating disorders charity in Scotland for many years, bringing that wealth of knowledge and experience with her here too.
All of therapists have a specialist interest in eating disorders, disordered eating and body image and engage in regular professional development to ensure their skills and knowledge are up-to-date.
We also have a wonderful team of therapists and dietitians including: Alexandra; Amanda, Amzu, Jackie, Jenny, Liz, Sue B and Sue C.
The team bring a wealth of information and experience to their work and are really friendly, encouraging and understanding. They are also approachable; tailor therapy to each individual client; go at your pace; provide short or long term therapy; and work with you in a flexible, collaborative way to support you to get to where you would like to get to. We have a great wee team and everyone works really hard to give you the best service possible.
