About me

Hi, I'm Donna, a trauma specialist offering online, telephone and walk and talk therapy which provides you the opportunity to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours in a safe and secure environment.

Do you feel disconnected or numb to the world, or do you find yourself feeling anxious, sad or low in mood?  Do you experience the feeling of being isolated and alone, and want someone to really listen to you, understand and empathise with your struggles.

I provide confidential, professional, non-judgemental and caring counselling to support you to focus on managing complicated feelings such as anxiety, depression and low self worth, among many other issues surrounding mental health and well being, all the while concentrating on improving your peaceful mind.  You can feel confident that with the proper assistance you can begin to have a life that you feel is right for you.

I Have worked in trauma since 2013, so if you have experienced childhood sexual abuse, domestic violence or sexual assault, I would be honoured in assisting you on your journey to recovery.  I can support you in exploring your trauma in a safe and secure environment, furthermore I can help you look at the past,  in the present moment with a goal for a better future.

If you want more information then please do not hesitate to contact me for a free 30-minute informal chat to determine if I am the right fit for your situation right now:

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor and trauma specialist with a 1st degree in Integrative Counselling and a Foundation degree in Transactional Analysis.

As well as working in my private practice I also work part time for a charity that specialises in domestic and sexual abuse, additionally, I work for a college as their student counsellor.

I recognise that we are all different and one way of working will not suit all clients, which is why I choose to train as an Integrative counsellor.  I can incorporate different elements to my practice which will include, but are not limited to, CBT techniques, Emotional Coping Skills incorporating a DBT model, Brief Solution Focused Therapy and Mindfulness techniques to match what my clients bring to session.  I find working with Psych Ed tools to address the clients understanding and management of distress tolerance, emotional regulation and interpersonal ways of being, useful in managing trauma responses as we work from the core of the self and validate ourselves rather than looking for external validation.

To further enhance my practice I attend regular CPD (Continued Professional Development) programs in many different subject, many of which are related to trauma and emotional coping skills

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
