About me

Hello, and welcome. I'm Dionne, and I'm a calm and compassionate person-centred counsellor offering in-person, online and telephone counselling in Shrewsbury (nationwide for online and telephone). I provide a safe, supportive space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences at your own pace. Working in an integrative way means I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches when helpful, always keeping you at the centre of the process. My aim is to help you understand yourself more deeply, develop greater self-compassion, and find clarity in areas of life that may feel confusing or overwhelming. Therapy can support you in managing stress, anxiety, low mood, and feelings of low self-worth, while helping you build confidence and move toward a more balanced way of living. I would like you to experience our sessions as a time for you and you alone, whereby you can slow down the pace of your busy life and explore your innermost thoughts and feelings without judgment, in a safe space that is held just for you.

What is person-centred counselling?

Person-centred counselling is rooted in the belief that you are your own expert on your life and you determine the direction of therapy. My role is to walk alongside you with empathy, presence, and genuine care, offering a space where you can be your authentic self and feel truly heard. Together, we can explore past experiences that may still be affecting you, easing feelings such as guilt, shame, fear, or confusion. Over time, this process can help you reconnect with your strengths, develop greater self-compassion, and move toward healing in your own way and your own time. Whether you are navigating grief, adjusting to a major life change, or simply wanting to understand yourself better, you don’t have to do it alone. I’m here to support you with warmth, calm, and understanding.

Supporting You With Grief and Loss

I have a special interest in grief and loss, having had much personal experience of this in my own life. As such, I am aware how it can touch our lives in many forms. While bereavement is often the most recognised, loss can also arise from divorce or separation, changes in health, redundancy, the “empty nest” stage, or the loss of identity, routine, or future hopes. These experiences can stir up powerful emotions that may feel overwhelming or difficult to name. As the saying goes, “grief is the price we pay for love,” and that price can show up in many different areas of life. Another gentle truth many people find comfort in is the idea that “grief is not something you get over, it’s something you learn to carry.” In counselling, we can explore these feelings together, helping you make sense of your experience and find steadier ground.

Supporting You Post Cancer Treatment

In my counselling work, I’ve had the privilege of supporting many people as they try to make sense of the emotional impact of a cancer diagnosis and the often unexpected feelings that surface after treatment ends. This stage is so frequently overlooked, yet it can be a time when fear, loss, and uncertainty feel especially heavy. I’m deeply committed to offering a space where those experiences can be spoken about openly and held with care, because having support during this period can make a meaningful difference to someone’s emotional wellbeing.
