About me

Sometimes, you may find it challenging to deal with your own thoughts. They can make you feel overwhelmed, anxious, distressed, scared, or trapped, or even lead you to behave in ways you wouldn't want to. I understand that this struggle can negatively impact various aspects of your life, including your social, personal, and family relationships, work, and more. However, you don't have to face these challenges alone. I'm here to help you identify the most suitable solutions that can enhance your quality of life. My goal is to make you feel happier, more confident about dealing with your problems, and more motivated about living your life. I'm committed to helping you improve your self-awareness, gain a deeper understanding of your difficulties, connect with your inner resources, and develop coping skills and strategies that will enable you to overcome your difficulties and become a resilient 'therapist of yourself' during and beyond the treatment process.

My name is Dimitrios, and I am a highly qualified Integrative Counsellor and accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) with many years of experience helping people who are experiencing psychological and emotional distress. I specialise in providing clinical assessments and treatments for individuals struggling with various mental health conditions, such as depression, anxiety, Social Anxiety Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), phobias, and panic disorder. In addition, I can help you address issues related to health anxiety, trauma, panic attacks, agoraphobia, anger, shame, personal development, body image, insomnia, work-related stress, self-esteem, low confidence, anger management, and relationship or familial difficulties.

I offer evidence-based psychotherapy primarily using the CBT approach. However, when necessary, I also integrate aspects of other approaches. This is to ensure that you receive the best possible benefit from a therapy process tailored to your individual needs, resulting in efficient and long-lasting outcomes.

I always provide a safe and confidential space for you to explore your difficulties and concerns. I adhere to ethical frameworks set by professional bodies and ensure that the therapy environment is non-judgmental and unbiased. I am friendly and empathetic and believe in promoting a warm and genuine atmosphere for your comfort. I also emphasise the importance of establishing a trustworthy therapeutic relationship that can be leveraged to achieve positive treatment outcomes.

"It is important to remember that mental health is just as important as physical health when willing to live a fulfilling life. Don't let your problems hold you back when there is an option to free yourself from them. I understand that finding a therapist and scheduling that first appointment can be overwhelming. However, taking that first step could make a positive difference in your well-being and overall quality of life. Investing in your mental health is always worthwhile, as you deserve to feel happy. Nothing is impossible for those who believe".

“Growth occurs when individuals confront problems, struggle to master them, and through that struggle develop new aspects of their skills, capacities, views about life.”

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
