About me
I'm Diana, an integrative counsellor and founder of Selene Counselling. For me, counselling begins with creating a relationship where you can feel comfortable enough to be yourself and talk openly about the things that matter to you. I believe that being genuinely heard, understood and accepted can be a powerful part of that experience.
Before becoming a counsellor, I worked in nursing and education, including roles supporting emotional wellbeing. Connecting with people and building relationships has always been important to me and has helped shape the counsellor I am today.
Through my training and experience as a counsellor, I have worked with people from a wide range of backgrounds and life experiences. It has strengthened my belief in getting to know the person in front of me and understanding what their experiences mean to them.
You don't need to identify with a particular issue on a list before contacting me. Sometimes the starting point is knowing that you would like somewhere to talk and understand more about what you are experiencing.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am an integrative counsellor and hold a CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. I am a registered member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS).
My training has given me experience across a range of therapeutic approaches, with Person-Centred theory forming the foundation of my practice.
My counselling experience includes working within a service supporting Global Majority communities and a specialist counselling service for men. I have worked with people from a wide range of backgrounds and life experiences, supporting a variety of emotional and relational difficulties.
I undertake regular supervision and continuing professional development to support my practice.

Areas of counselling I deal with
Other areas of counselling I deal with
I draw on psychodynamic, attachment and relational approaches within my work. This can allow us to look at earlier experiences and relationships, exploring how they may still influence the way you feel about yourself, respond to situations or relate to others today. I have a particular interest in creative and deeper ways of exploring experience. Where it feels helpful, counselling may include imagery, metaphor, symbolism, mindfulness, grounding or creative reflection. I also welcome spirituality, personal meaning and deeper questions about identity and experience where these are important to you.

Further information
People come to counselling for many different reasons. You may be struggling with something happening in your life now, trying to make sense of experiences from the past, or noticing thoughts, feelings or patterns that you would like to understand more deeply.
My approach is collaborative and guided by what you bring to counselling. Together, we can explore your experiences, relationships and patterns, making connections and developing a deeper understanding of yourself and what feels important to you. I work at your pace, adapting our sessions to your individual needs and experiences.
