Denise James. MA, PGDip, MBACP Psychotherapist and Counsellor
*I am currently offering Online and Telephone counselling due to nature of the Covid-19 virus.*
Are you struggling with feelings of anxiety and depression, unsure as to where your life is heading? Perhaps you keep finding yourself in the same unhealthy situations again and again, unsure of how you got there or how you can change things? Are you worried abut how much you are drinking, gambling or eating to cope for example?
We can all reach crisis points at any stage in our lives, and this can leave us feeling helpless and anxious - particularly in the current pandemic, these issues can be heightened. Whatever issues you are facing, talking to a professional, highly trained therapist could help.
I am trained to Masters Degree level and have more than 15 years experience of providing psychotherapy and counselling to a wide range of clients seeking a place to talk. I have worked in a variety of settings including rehabs, health care, charities, further education establishments, with victims of abuse and clients struggling with addiction. I also see clients in my private practice.
I am an experienced Integrative counsellor and psychotherapist, with a post graduate qualification in Psychology and a Masters degree in Psychotherapy and Counselling, giving me in-depth knowledge of the human psyche. I tailor the work with my clients to their own specific issues and experience, rather than using a ‘one theory fits all’ approach. The therapy I offer is also warm and person centered, giving you the opportunity and space to talk about how you feel with someone who is fully trained, experienced and non judgemental, and who will work with and support you to help you resolve the issues that bring you to therapy.
I have also written and delivered workshops to clients, facilitated group therapy, and helped people work through their issues in a confidential, supporting environment.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
