About me
A little about me
I am an experienced and accredited counsellor who feels passionately about the transformative change that can emerge from good quality therapeutic support, and the positive impact it can have on one's life. I am also a person, like you, who has experienced life's ebbs and flows, and who has valued a space out with my 'normal' support circles in times of particular challenge.
My work is rooted in integrative therapy which is underpinned by an awareness of the impact of early relational attachments and the ways in which trauma impacts our development. What this means in practice is that I seek to work with the whole of the person in a way that is uniquely tailored to their needs and goals. My style is relational; I do not seek to, nor have the power to 'do' to or for you. What I hope to offer is a relationship of mutual respect, commitment, and integrity. I'm interested in how we impact and are impacted by one another and those around us.
A little about my work
I work with adult clients experiencing a wide range of symptoms and difficulties. I have found over the years that many clients find their way into therapy when experiencing one or more of the following:
- Feeling lost, alone, or isolated
- Life or feelings have become overwhelming
- Struggling to manage life or your emotions the way you used to
- Withdrawing from relationships, interests, and/or life in general
- Wanting to change but not know how to
Other clients come to therapy following an upsetting, difficult, or traumatic experience that has recently occurred, or that has happened in the past but continues to cause upset or unease in the here and now.
A little about therapy
Many people ask what makes counselling or psychotherapy effective. Whilst I'm not sure there is a singular answer to this question, I believe that the building and maintaining of a safe, holding, therapeutic relationship is a central factor. It is only when we feel safe enough, respected, honoured, and nurtured that we can begin to take risks with ourselves and another. In therapy, this can take time and can make us feel exposed and vulnerable. In a good therapeutic relationship, I would hope there to be acknowledgement of this and a collaborative approach to the depth and pace of the work.
Each of us come into therapy with our own unique experiences, history, worldview, hopes, personality, and personal preferences. As such, not all counsellors will be a good fit for all clients. I believe that it is important to find a therapist who you feel you can work well with, and who feels that they have the professional experience and skills to support you appropriately. I therefore encourage open discussion about this during our initial sessions. If I feel I am unable to offer appropriate support to suit your needs I will endevour to signpost you to a more suitable therapist or service who can.
I offer face to face sessions in Wiltshire and Gloucestershire, as well as online sessions for those living further afield.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have over 10 years experience working as a counsellor across a variety of organisations and settings. I also have significant experience in senior leadership roles within the mental health and charitable sectors.
Alongside my clinical practice, I am an accomplished educator. I have taught across all levels of qualifying counselling training courses and delivered post-qualifying specialist training in trauma. I continue to support the development of counselling tutors and lecturers through line management, mentoring, and supervision.
I value my work as a clinical supervisor, a role which sees me supporting the work of experienced practitioners as well as trainee therapists and those in the infancy of their practice.

Therapists in Training and those newly qualified
Over the past 10 years, my professional experiences and personal interest has led me to working extensively with counsellors and psychotherapists in training, and those navigating their first years as qualified practitioners. I believe these stages to be uniquely sacred in a therapist's development. Our training requires us to deep dive into the complexity of our own history, relational patterns, trauma, and processes. My personal feeling is that it is during this time, more than ever, that we need the containment and holding of a robust, relational therapeutic relationship.
For those navigating these significant stages, I can offer a relational, boundaried space where, together, we can hold, nurture, challenge, explore, and encourage all parts of you, and where the unique challenges that arise from the added dimension of therapy training will be honoured and welcomed.
Alongside supervision and CPD, I believe personal therapy to be one of the key pillars that aids the robustness, effectiveness, and safe ethical practice of a therapist.
