Supervision details
The supervision aspect of my practice is something I particularly enjoy and value. I am fortunate to work with counsellors and psychotherapists at different stages in their professional journeys. I consider supervision to be an invaluable space where we can grapple with aspects of ourselves, our practice, and the unspoken processes that emerge in our clinical work. As such, I believe there is a richness in the deeper relational exploration that can be co-created in the supervisory space.
Originally trained in an integrative model, my practice has developed over time with the completion of further specialist training in the field of trauma. My style as a therapist and supervisor is relational.
In addition to my private clinical work, I am the passionate Joint-CEO of a counselling service and counselling training charity, and I have 10 years' experience of teaching across various levels of qualifying and post-graduate counselling courses. I current assist on the delivery of a relational Supervision Diploma course for therapists and organisational development practitioners.
Therapists in training and those newly qualified
Over the past 10 years, my professional experiences and personal interest has led me to working extensively with counsellors and psychotherapists in training, and those navigating their early years as qualified practitioners. I believe these stages to be uniquely sacred in a therapist's development: exciting and challenging. Therapy training requires us to deep dive into the complexity of our own history, relational patterns, trauma, and processes. My personal feeling is that it is during this time, more than ever, that we need the containment and holding of a robust, relational supervisory relationship.
For those navigating these significant stages, I can offer a relational, boundaried space where, together, we can hold, nurture, challenge, explore, and encourage all parts of you and your practice. For those in training, the unique challenges that arise from the added dimension of therapy training and placement work will be honoured and welcomed. For those taking the first steps into developing their practice as qualified practitioners, I can offer support and guidance through these early stages of your career.
Alongside good therapy and CPD, I believe supervision to be one of the key pillars that aids the robustness, effectiveness, and safe ethical practice of a therapist.
