About me

Welcome. Many people come to me with anxiety and are feeling overwhelmed at times, depressed, often feeling stuck in cycles they cannot fully explain,  and are finding it difficult to balance the challenges of everyday life. Does that sound like you?

Taking the first step towards therapy is not always an easy one. In my practice, therapy is a collaborative process. The relationship itself is an important part of the process where we explore together the deeper patterns you are experiencing and are shaping your emotional life. Working together we can understand your present day issues, your underlying feelings, and uncover unconscious patterns from early experiences that may be influencing how you interact and relate to others today.

Therapy with me is not rushed, we move at a pace that feels safe and comfortable for you, balancing the depth of the work with the support and insight you are looking for. Change is a process we are working towards over time, so you can begin to feel more empowered, more grounded, better able to navigate through those inner emotions and feel confident to lead a more balanced and rewarding lifestyle.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am an experienced Psychotherapeutic Counsellor (Psychodynamic) and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Whilst my qualification is based on a psychodynamic approach to therapy, I often draw on other modalities depending on the presenting needs of the individual.

I have a special interest in working with the challenges faced by older and elderly members of our society. I believe passionately in the value of working with older people and that it is never too late to obtain change and growth.

My background includes an extensive career in the corporate sector within employee relations as well as running my own businesses, so I understand from a practical and emotional perspective the challenges and demands that individuals in these sectors face.

I offer both long term and short term counselling from my office in central Chichester. The practice offers a calm, safe and confidential space and is located conveniently for parking as well as train and bus routes.

Please get in touch to arrange an initial appointment where we can discuss your specific hopes and needs from the counselling process and answer any questions you may have.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.
