About me

Hi, I’m Debbie. I work with young people aged 16+ and adults aged 18 and over. Sometimes, challenges you face in life can leave you feeling hopeless, depressed, anxious and desperate. Together, we can find a path through these challenges. I can offer you my expertise and support in my empathic and supportive way. I believe there is always hope for change.

I can offer support with a wide range of psychological and emotional issues including general anxiety disorder, stress, depression, trauma, relationship issues and grief and loss. I work integratively, with young people aged 16+. It seems now, more than ever, young people need support to help navigate the world we live in. I work to help support young people to navigate their emotional world, their relationships and help them to make sense of their experiences.

I have a BSc (Hons) in Humanistic Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy and I am an accredited member of the BACP. I draw on techniques from different types of therapy to tailor an approach specifically for you. I believe that there isn't just one therapeutic approach that can help in all situations and so I take into consideration you and your circumstances as an individual and use elements of different approaches to help you explore and cope with your problems.

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
