Integrative & Creative Counsellor (Dip.Couns) MBACP & NCPS

About me

If you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected from yourself, or carrying experiences that feel too heavy to hold alone, I want you to know that you are not broken for needing support.  Reaching out often comes after a long time of holding things together on your own. In this space, you are met with care, understanding, and respect for everything you have been carrying.

My name is Debbie, and I am an integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor. I work with people who are navigating trauma, loss and bereavement, addiction recovery, identity struggles, and the long-term impact of painful life experiences. Many of the clients who come to me have tried to cope for a long time. They are not looking for quick fixes. They are looking for understanding, safety, and a way to begin feeling more like themselves again.

My work is trauma-informed, relational, and tailored to you. I offer a calm, compassionate space where your experiences can be explored without judgement and at your own pace. Together, we make sense of what you have been carrying, gently work with patterns that no longer serve you, and support reconnection with the parts of you that may have been lost, hidden, or silenced.

I also integrate creative and experiential approaches when they are helpful, particularly for experiences that feel difficult to put into words.

If you are seeking therapy that is grounded, human, and deeply respectful of your story, you are welcome to get in touch.

Sessions are available online and by telephone.

Take gentle care of yourself and thank you for reading.

Training, qualifications & experience

My practice is grounded in professional training, ethical practice, and ongoing development. I am a registered member of the BACP and work in line with their ethical framework.

I am trained as an integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor, which means I adapt the work to you as an individual rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. My work is trauma-informed and shaped by extensive experience supporting people through complex emotional and life experiences.

I have specialist training and experience in:

• Trauma, complex trauma, sexual abuse, and violent assault
• Bereavement, including suicide loss and complicated grief
• Addiction and recovery
• Identity, self-worth, and emotional regulation
• Creative and experiential therapy methods

I have worked across bereavement services, addiction and rehabilitation settings, and specialist trauma and sexual violence services. This has given me a deep understanding of how long-held pain and loss can shape emotional life, relationships, and identity.

I also bring lived experience into my work. This informs a grounded, compassionate approach that many clients describe as safe, human, and deeply attuned. I am committed to ongoing supervision and professional development to ensure the work we do together is both ethically sound and emotionally held.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
