I’m David, a fully qualified integrative counsellor. I’m here if you need a warm, safe, encouraging (and sometimes challenging) apple crumble of a space to talk or work through things.
I’m mostly person-centred with CBT edges, able to help you explore or work through your thoughts and feelings, as well as your behaviours or reactions, to help you find what you need and what you want – or perhaps what you want to do and where you want to go.
I’m able to adapt and respond to each individual person, following you and your needs.
It means a lot to me to try to keep my fees as truly affordable as I can. I believe counselling should be open and inclusive to everyone, and I want as many people as possible to be able to access and afford counselling when they need it. Please send me messages if you have any questions or worries, and we will try to work out something.
I’m based in Ashford, but I’m available remotely (telephones; Skype, Teams, Zoom; Whatsapp/text-based counselling) anywhere.
I’m able to do face-to-face (thought not right now!) and walking counselling in Ashford.
I enjoy short-term, focussed counselling or more longer-term, open-ended ways of working together. Whatever you need!
Training, qualifications & experience
As well as working as a counsellor, I’ve also been a Samaritan for almost seven years, helping and supporting so many different people through a huge range of issues and stresses, and I currently work in suicide prevention at Mind, the mental health charity.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
