About me
About me
I am a person-centred counsellor, specialising in depression and anxiety. I have lived experience in this area, and I utilised therapy to explore my thoughts and feelings, get to the root cause, and improve my mental health. This led to my training as a counsellor, with the intention of helping others to do the same.
As a person-centred counsellor, I believe you are the expert on your own life. Our sessions will be guided by your needs and will progress at a pace that feels right for you. I strive to create a warm and welcoming space where you feel comfortable sharing.
I'm a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and I work within their professional and ethical guidelines.
Person-centred counselling can be a powerful tool for working through any issue you might be experiencing. It provides a confidential and supportive environment where you can explore the thoughts and feelings connected to your current situation. Understanding these thoughts and feelings can lead to greater self-awareness and a deeper understanding of your own behaviour. Because person-centred counselling is non-directive, you're in control of each session's direction. And I'll be there to support you on this journey with empathy, understanding, and non-judgmental guidance.
In your first session I will do an initial assessment. This is an opportunity for you to share with me what has brought you to counselling, and for you to decide if you feel that I am the right counsellor for you. At this stage there is no obligation to continue your therapy with me, and I may be able to refer you to another counsellor should you decide that would be preferable.
The sessions will be predominantly person-centred therapy. However, I may incorporate elements of cognitive behavioural therapy, or psychoanalysis, should it become apparent that these approaches would be beneficial for you. I mention this as we are all individuals, with our own ways of processing. Therefore, I feel there is a need to tailor the sessions to suit.
We all face challenges in life, and it's not always easy to find someone we truly trust to talk to. Sharing your story with a compassionate listener can be a powerful and healing experience.
I offer a safe and supportive space where you can explore whatever's on your mind, whether it's depression, anxiety, stress, imposter syndrome, or any other personal struggle.
Choosing to invest in your well-being through therapy is a courageous act of self-kindness.
Everyone comes to therapy with different goals. You might have relationship challenges you want to address, you might be looking for personal growth or direction, or you might just know you want to feel better and understand yourself better. Whatever your reason, exploring it in therapy can help.
I have previous experience of working with Just’B’, a charity which specialises in bereavement. This included training in understanding and working with clients with addiction issues, bereavement support, domestic abuse awareness, safeguarding children and adults, and suicide awareness.
Additionally, I have worked with Pegasus Men’s Well-being. I chose to work here as men’s well-being is something that I have experienced, both personally, and through those closest to me. I feel it is so important to promote men speaking out. And in this position I enabled them to do so.
I also worked with York Medical Group. The counselling service within this group was set up by one of the doctors because they were tired of the lack of counselling available to their patients. I felt that this was a fantastic initiative. And I am proud to say that I was a part of it.
I also currently work with the Charity MIND. Another fantastic charity that I am proud to be helping achieve their goals.
Finally, I do answer all enquiries. So, please feel free to get in touch, and I shall respond as quickly as possible.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
