About me

Perhaps you’re feeling anxious and overwhelmed?

Maybe you've recently gone through a breakup or you're trying to understand existing complex relationships?

It could be that you’re experiencing grief, navigating trauma or trying to make sense of past events?

If you’re looking for a safe space to explore, feel understood and move towards a place of growth and acceptance, please reach out for an introductory call.

I have had my own experiences of counselling at times when I most needed help and support, and I can genuinely say that therapy helps and finding the right therapist that you connect with can facilitate healing, growth and self-acceptance.

Hi, I’m Colette, a person-centred psychotherapist based in Liverpool. I provide compassionate counselling, offering a space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences without fear of judgment to create meaningful change in your life.

Having had my own experiences of grief, loss and therapy, I understand the importance of feeling heard and understood, as well as the importance of navigating difficult periods of your life with someone who 'gets' you and has the skills and capacity to hold space.

Whatever you are navigating, I'm here to walk alongside you- to listen and support you while you progress towards greater self-awareness and wellbeing.

As well as practising as a private therapist, I also currently work at Sunflowers Charity, supporting clients who are experiencing grief, long-term illnesses, anxiety, depression and trauma.

I work in an attuned and responsive way to meet the needs of each client. I have worked with clients experiencing:

  • Grief and bereavement
  • Trauma
  • Neurodiverse clients
  • Complex family relationships
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Long-term illness

A bit about me

My passion for counselling and psychotherapy was born out of my own experiences and a desire to be able to offer the same support I received when I most needed it to others. Although I'm in my 30's now, my 20's were formative years for me where I navigated a lot of pain, grief and dramatic life changes. Through counselling, I feel I was not only able to heal from these wounds, but it also led to personal growth and to the path I'm now on.

I live in Liverpool, the city I grew up in and love, although I've been lucky enough to travel the world and even live in France for a year (although my French is still rusty.)

I'm a down-to-earth person who is extremely warm, empathetic and non-judgemental.

Getting started with counselling

I offer a free 15-20 minute introductory call to get to know each other a little better, discuss your goals for therapy and decide whether I will be the right fit for you as a therapist.

Following this, we can arrange a time for our initial session. I offer online, telephone and in-person therapy so you can decide what you're most comfortable with.

What is therapy like?
Our work together will be a collaborative process where I will provide the space for you to explore your emotions and experiences. While I believe strongly in the power of person-centred therapy, I also integrate tools and techniques from other approaches that may be helpful to you, including cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and trauma-informed methods. This flexible approach allows me to tailor our work together to your unique needs and goals.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
