About me

**Fully insured to work online throughout the UK & internationally**

Folks like yourself come to talking therapy for many different reasons and you will have your own motivation for seeking support. I know it takes courage and strength to reach out for help, and it can be particularly challenging if you are feeling vulnerable and low. Perhaps you don’t know why you feel the way you do but know that you are suffering and need things to change for you to move forward.

So, how can I help you?

For over 25 years I have worked within therapeutic and social care environments and have supported a diverse range of people from all walks of life, people just like you. I have a wealth of personal and professional experience to draw upon and I deeply appreciate the value of feeling heard and experiencing validation, and understand the significance of this for positive mental health and emotional well-being.

As a psychotherapist/counsellor qualified to Post-Graduate level 7, I practise a therapeutic approach commonly known as Person-Centred. Through a collaborative and compassionate lens, where there is no judgement or criticism for who you are or however you identify, the Person-Centred approach can be a very effective way of supporting clients and encouraging healing and growth.

In order to explore and process difficult and sometimes painful experiences, I use my skills to help you to feel safe so that you can talk freely and focus on the issues that matter most to you, at a pace you are most comfortable with. I can support you to find your way of being and coping in the world, to live life more as your authentic self, to feel more confident and unapologetically you and according to your values.

Should you decide I am the right therapist for you, I pledge to support you with patience, sensitivity and respect. I will encourage you to find your own way to ‘be’ in the world, to learn to trust your own judgement and to develop self-acceptance and understanding of how your unique view of the world can affect the choices you make and the actions you take.

I am an LGBTQI+ affirmative practitioner and I have volunteered as a counsellor with the LGBT Foundation in Manchester. Wherever you place yourself on the gender and/or sexuality spectrum, you are most welcome!

I currently offer sessions via Zoom, telephone and ‘Walk and Talk’ outdoor therapy (subject to availability/appropriateness) taking place in Didsbury, South Manchester.

Introductory pre-therapy contact:

Reaching out to a therapist for the first time can be a daunting experience and perhaps you have some questions or concerns before you start therapy.

I offer a free, no obligation 20-minute contact via telephone or Zoom in order for you to get a greater sense of how I work and an opportunity for you to share your thoughts about what is bringing you to therapy and any outcomes you would like to achieve for yourself.

I aim to provide you with transparency and the information you need to make an informed choice before starting talking therapy. Should you decide that I am the right therapist for you, we can then arrange our first session and go from there.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
