About me

I'm Clive Wade, a person-centred counsellor working with adults across Cornwall and online throughout the UK. I offer a calm, confidential space where you can talk without judgement and be genuinely heard, whatever has brought you here.

I work with people experiencing anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, and life transitions, as well as those navigating stress and burnout, grief, or a loss of self-esteem. Sessions are led by you rather than by an agenda I've set in advance. There's no fixed programme and no pressure to arrive with the right words; my role is to listen closely and help you find your own clarity at your own pace.

I have a particular interest in supporting people through divorce and separation. Alongside my counselling training, I hold a Certificate in Divorce Coaching and Mediation, and I'm the author of When Divorce Gets Messy, a guide for parents navigating custody, conflict, and protecting their children through separation.

I see clients in person near Truro and Redruth, and online or by phone across the UK. I offer a free 20-minute consultation so you can ask questions and get a sense of whether it feels right to work together, with no pressure and no obligation to continue.

I'm a registered member of the BACP and work within their Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

I'm the author of When Divorce Gets Messy: A Parent's Guide to Custody, Conflict, and Protecting Your Children, published in 2026. Drawing on both research and clinical experience, it's written for parents navigating separation and custody disputes, and many clients find it a useful companion alongside counselling. It's available on Amazon.

Before training as a counsellor, I spent 15 years working as a physiotherapist in the NHS and 10 years coaching gymnastics, experience that continues to shape how I listen and how I work with people today.
