About me
Hello, thanks for visiting my profile. I understand that coming to counselling can be a scary step however when we work together we will be able to build a relationship in which you feel safe. The space that I offer you is comfortable, welcoming, and confidential and here you will be able to grow and reach your full potential. The relationship that we create will underpin the work that we do and we will be able to explore your feelings together in a way that is genuine and non-judgemental.
I am a relational, integrative counsellor, which means that our sessions together will be guided by you and your needs, and my input will be different with each individual client. All of my clients are unique and no two clients are the same.
Some of the issues which I have experience of working with include anxiety, depression, harming behaviours, relationship issues, and trauma from childhood. I have carried out research in men's experiences of mental health, and clients that use self-harm as a coping mechanism.
For indoor counselling my therapy room is located in Keighley however I also offer outdoor therapy and can do this in all areas from Skipton to Hebden Bridge. Perhaps you already value the benefits of exercise and fresh air and would prefer to explore your story in a natural outdoor space instead of in a traditional counselling room.
Please get in touch if you would like any more information about how I can help you; I look forward to hearing from you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold the following qualifications:
- MA Integrative Counselling - Leeds Beckett University
- BSc Psychology with Counselling - University of Bradford
I spent over 12 months volunteering with a mental health charity in Calderdale, and when I am not seeing my own clients I support students that are currently training to become qualified counsellors. I also work for a charity that supports people who self-harm.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
