About me
Hello. I'm Clare. If you're here and reading this, you're probably looking for support with your mental health. I can be there for you in a way that suits you best. Therapy is not one size fits all; I first work to understand where you're at, and then I'll meet you there.
Are you looking to worry a lot less or enjoy your life a lot more? Do you want to make sense of your thoughts, feelings and behaviours? Would you like greater emotional resilience? Perhaps you're a self-improver wanting greater self-awareness?
I can help with that. You are not alone, and you deserve support.
I have had the privilege of working with clients from all walks of life. As well as private clients, I also work in a therapy service with clients whose mental health is causing issues with work. My time there has given me experience with anxiety, depression, social anxiety, OCD, domestic abuse, adverse childhood experiences [ACEs], sexual abuse, bereavement, chronic illness, self-esteem and identity issues.
I am a Volunteer Counsellor at a leading cancer charity. My role there is to accompany my clients as they adjust to their or a family member's cancer journey. I support them with anxiety, depression, grief, bereavement, identity issues, relationships, and so much more.
I haven't always been a counsellor. I retrained from a marketing background, and it was (one of - hello to my family!) the best decisions I've made. I really value the time I spend working with and learning from each of my clients.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
Areas of counselling I deal with
Other areas of counselling I deal with
I am passionate about supporting people through mid-life transitions. It is a complex life area that each client experiences in their own unique way.
As life evolves due to retirement, children leaving home, and new caring responsibilities, it can really help to talk through the complexities. To acknowledge our feelings and set off in a new direction that is best aligned with ourselves and our values.
I can help you with that.

Further information
I work online or on the telephone.
We can have an initial telephone conversation to make sure we can work effectively and safely together.
I am trained in Person-Centred Therapy, CBT, and Transactional Analysis. However, it's our relationship that will be the most important part of your therapy. Within our relationship, you can learn, grow, and heal. I believe that you are the expert on yourself, your life, and needs. I won't give you advice - there's a chance you've had enough of that. I am here for you to speak openly and honestly with. To help you get in touch with your thoughts and feelings, to pause and take stock of your life.
If I think a particular intervention could be helpful for you, I'll introduce it, and you decide whether you'd like to know more.
CBT can be helpful with many mental health problems, such as anxiety, depression, and stress.
Transactional Analysis can really help us to understand our personality and behaviours. It can shine a light on our relationships and improve our communication.
My job is to provide a supportive, confidential, and non-judgmental space. Once you know you are in a safe space, your role is to commit to our sessions, to trust, and explore.
I hope you can achieve:
- Reduced anxiety
- Greater enjoyment of life
- Improved relationships
- Less overwhelm
- More resilience and control
A better understanding of yourself, why you think or feel or behave the way you do. And knowledge is power: once you know why, you can decide if that old way of being is still helpful. Or is there a new way? I can help you figure this out and find the new way for what you decide.
I work face to face at the Affinity Centre in Cheadle, but we can also work online or over the telephone. Please get in touch to discuss.
