About me

I am a COSRT registered psychosexual and relationship psychotherapist and  BACP registered Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor with a core model of Transactional Analysis.

My practice rooms are both in private buildings tucked away from the hurly burly of day-to-day life. They are welcoming and warm with plenty of light and space.

I work both short term and longer term and hold an enhanced DBS. I attend regular supervision in line with BACP and COSRT guidance for good practice.

I'll listen to what you tell me about your situation, and using an empathic approach I'll work with you drawing from a variety of theoretical models to tailor your therapy. Often it can be that current issues are set in the frame of what's gone before and so taking time to look back at your early life experiences can really help to understand more clearly where difficulties and patterns have come from and why.

You're the expert on yourself, and this is key as we develop a relationship. I'll be alongside you as we work together to establish what you need, and I'll support you as you move through your counselling journey.

Central to my work is feeling safe, feeling heard and seen, honesty and being valued. Throughout the time we spend there, there will be a myriad of feelings and emotions; we may laugh or cry, we may be quiet or use the space to offload and process. Most of all, I'll accept you as you are with whatever you bring and however it comes. It's always a privilege to work with clients and share precious thoughts and feelings

Relationship and psychosexual therapy is a specialism of mine. The initial session is spent getting to know you and understanding the issues and how they are impacting you. I will then work through an extensive history, and we will agree a plan together that addresses the difficulties. This may be a combination of talking therapy, medical check recommendations, and CBT exercises. I will use appropriate ways of working depending on what you need, including reflective listening exploring attitudes and internalised experiences of sex and relationships,  Imago Therapy, Gottman Method, Sensate Focus and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. I take a careful and gentle approach to trauma and am experienced with working with clients who have experienced sexual violence or sexual abuse.

The relationship we create in therapy is the space where I hope clients can feel comfortable to share intimate difficulties which can be difficult to explore with others and find a way forward at a pace that feels held and comfortable.

What will our first session look like?

Coming to your first session can feel daunting as it's a first step, and often the hardest step to take. I appreciate there's a lot that happens before getting to the therapy room!

This initial session is for us to get to know each other a bit and decide whether we're a good fit.

Once we've discussed the importance and limits of confidentiality, I'll do an assessment and we'll look at the reasons you've sought therapy at this time and what you'd really like to get out of it - where you'd like to see yourself/selves. I'll be able to give you some clarity on how we can work together and how your therapy might look.
