About me
I am Claire Robertson the founder of Heartwork Services. I am passionate about Counselling. My approach to Counselling is open, empathic, and understanding. When working with you through the challenges you face, I value creating a warm, non-judgmental environment to help you feel comfortable, supported, and empowered. We work together to discover what is required to overcome the challenges in your life and identify what you might need to address this. You may learn new techniques and develop other tools to make improvements to your sense of self, wellbeing and mental health promoting strategies. Psychoeducation can be an important part of understanding and giving context to your situation. We will identify next steps together and regularly review these as the focus of the work may change. We can work towards resolving a current issue or explore the origins and make connections and new understandings of questions you may have about the choices you make.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have worked as a Counsellor in various setting such as Cruise Bereavement Care Scotland, the University of Dundee and in Private Practice. Being a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). I have extensive training in counselling and experience of face to face, telephone, online, and walk and talk Counselling. I currently only offer online appointments.
I have a masters with distinction in Counselling from the University of Abertay, Dundee and have been in private practice as a counsellor for over 5 years. I offer individual Counselling supporting people with a variety of needs, such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and bereavement to name but a few. Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

£70.00 per session
Concessions offered for
Additional information
The fee for a 50 minute counselling session is £70.00. This is to allow time to write any notes and arrange the next appointment. However, if you are funding the Counselling through Private Health Insurance the fee will be agreed directly with the insurance company.
BACS Transfer is required prior to appointments. Cancellation of an appointment within 24 hours of an agreed appointment will require payment to be made.

Online appointments are available on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday during limited daytime hours 9.30am until the last appointment offered at 1.30pm, I do not offer evening appointments.

Art/Creative Therapy; Explore art making and art materials either physically or digitally to help explore a range of issues, feelings and concerns or learn new ways to explore what is on your mind. I can also teach you how to use art materials for you to practise and build creativity into your day.
