About me
Counselling that works for you
You may be here because something in your life no longer feels manageable.
Perhaps you feel anxious all the time, emotionally overwhelmed, stuck in the same patterns, struggling with relationships, grieving, burnt out, or simply unhappy and unsure why. Maybe you’ve spent so long coping on your own that you hardly recognise yourself anymore.
Hi, I’m Christina, a qualified person-centred counsellor working with clients across Manchester and Lancashire. I offer warm, supportive counselling for adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD/autism, relationship difficulties, grief, work stress, and general dissatisfaction with life.
My approach is gentle, down-to-earth, and tailored to you as an individual. Alongside counselling, I also bring my experience as a qualified holistic therapist into my work where appropriate, offering calming and practical techniques to support both emotional and physical wellbeing. This can be especially helpful if you are looking for something a little different from traditional talking therapy.
Therapy with me is not about being judged, analysed, or told what to do. It is about having a safe space where you can finally exhale, make sense of what you are feeling, and begin moving forward in a way that feels manageable and meaningful to you.
How I can help you
Life experiences can leave us feeling lost, anxious, disconnected, or stuck in survival mode. Sometimes we know exactly what has caused it. Sometimes we just know that something does not feel right anymore.
I work with clients who may be experiencing:
- Anxiety and panic
- Depression and low mood
- ADHD and autism-related challenges
- Trauma and difficult past experiences
- Relationship and family difficulties
- Grief and loss
- Work-related stress and burnout
- Low self-esteem and confidence
- Feeling emotionally overwhelmed or “stuck”
- Repeating unhealthy patterns or behaviours
Together, we can explore what is happening beneath the surface and help you better understand yourself, your emotions, and your experiences.
Clients often come to me feeling:
- Overwhelmed and unable to cope
- Emotionally exhausted
- Trapped in overthinking or anxiety
- Disconnected from themselves
- Unsure how to move forward
- Frustrated by repeating the same patterns
- Misunderstood by others
Through counselling, many clients begin to:
- Feel calmer and more emotionally balanced
- Understand and manage anxiety more effectively
- Process painful experiences safely
- Build healthier relationships and boundaries
- Develop self-confidence and self-understanding
- Reconnect with themselves and what they need
- Feel more hopeful and in control of their lives
As well as person-centred counselling, we may also incorporate holistic approaches where appropriate, including mindfulness, grounding techniques, meditation, breathwork, EFT, and nervous system regulation tools. These approaches can help clients who struggle with anxiety, stress, trauma responses, or feeling disconnected from themselves.
Everything we do is collaborative, gentle, and adapted to your needs.
Here's what some of my previous clients have said:
"I have found Christina to be an experienced and skilled practitioner. She is genuine and intuitive and is always professional in her practice." ~ Sue, Bury
"Chrissy is approachable, patient, empathetic and truly listens. I felt comfortable straight away with Chrissy, she made me feel at ease and provided insight I don't think I would have reached on my own..." ~ Ash, Whitefield
"I was unsure about person-centric counselling before I worked with Christina. However I found Christina's methods exceptionally good at providing the right support at the right point. The sessions I had felt as if they were custom built for what I needed at that time. This ranged from a space to vent, to a non-judgmental sounding board, to a place where I could meander through my thoughts. I would strongly recommend for anyone with a neurodivergent need to try working with Christina." ~ Chris, Chorley.
"Christina is supportive, open, kind, caring, and created a space for me to be myself, and feel much better." ~ Jess, Bolton
What to expect in your first session
Starting counselling can feel daunting — especially if you have never spoken to anyone about how you are feeling before.
Your first session is simply an opportunity for us to get to know each other in a safe and relaxed way. There is no pressure to share everything immediately.
We will explore:
- What has brought you to counselling
- How things have been affecting you
- What support you are looking for
- What you would like to gain from therapy
- Most importantly, it is a space for you to feel heard, understood, and comfortable being yourself.
I work at your pace and aim to create a warm, non-judgemental environment where you can speak openly and honestly.
My Experience and Expertise
Alongside my professional counselling training, I bring many years of experience supporting people through difficult and emotionally challenging periods in their lives. I am a fully qualified person-centred counsellor with additional training in trauma, anxiety, ADHD/autism, solution-focussed therapy, emotional wellbeing, mindfulness, and nervous system regulation.
As well as talking therapy, I also offer holistic approaches such as mindfulness, meditation, grounding techniques, and EFT where appropriate, helping clients who may feel overwhelmed, anxious, emotionally stuck, or disconnected from themselves.
Before becoming a counsellor, I spent over sixteen years supporting vulnerable people and victims of abuse, and I continue to work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, neurodivergence, grief, and low self-esteem.
I regularly undertake ongoing professional training to ensure my work remains informed, compassionate, and tailored to the individual needs of each client. I am also an accredited member of the NCPS, a member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists, and fully insured.

Counselling FAQs
How do I know if counselling is going to help me?
Counselling offers you an opportunity to talk to someone completely independent of your situation; someone who is not going to judge you, tell you what to do, or dismiss how you are feeling. Counselling provides a focussed space just for you, to unload everything that you are holding in, and have someone accompany you while you process your experience. People of all ages and walks of life can find counselling beneficial, feeling lighter and supported in their journey to self-understanding. Whatever challenge you are facing, counselling can help you feel less alone.
What if I struggle to talk about my emotions or open up?
If you need to go at a slow pace and take your time, that's completely okay. It is my job as a therapist to make sure you feel safe, and there is no pressure to share anything before you are ready. I will take your lead in the session, I will not pry and we will go where you wish to go at a pace you feel comfortable with.
What if I am not really into holistic healing, and just want counselling?
Everyone is different and has their own preferences - if holistic techniques are not your thing, don't worry - we can still work together! My practice is rooted in person-centred therapy, which puts you at the heart of your process, and I am dedicated to providing a space that works for you. Holistic techniques are a tool but are by no means mandatory, and counselling can be just as effective as a pure talking modality.
How long does counselling last for?
Each of our therapy sessions will typically run for 50 minutes, and we meet every week unless you specify otherwise. There is no need to commit to a fixed amount of sessions upfront, and there is no limit to how many sessions you can come for. Some people come for just a few sessions, and some stay in therapy longer, so your sessions will be guided by your needs. We can discuss your goals for your therapy in your initial session, and we will review as we go along.
How can I book a counselling session?
You can book an introductory session online here or contact me to find out more, ask me a question or book a session offline. You can also book a session through my website.
How much does a counselling session cost?
Sessions are priced at £55 for a clinical hour (50 minutes).
What is the introductory session for?
This session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other, discuss your reasons for seeking counselling and what your goals and expectations are for your therapy. I can answer any questions you may have about how counselling works and what to expect from the process. It is also a good opportunity for us to establish whether we would be a good fit to work together.
Will my sessions be confidential?
In order for you to feel safe and assured in your therapy, our sessions are treated with the utmost confidence, which means everything we speak about in the sessions is kept strictly between us and not shared with anyone else. All information is held securely and compliant to GDPR guidelines and I am ICO registered. There are specific ethical exemptions to confidentiality, but these are uncommon and will be discussed in your introductory session.
Am I able to switch my counselling format if I need to (between in-person, online, telephone, and walk and talk)?
Yes, your counselling sessions are flexible and intended to meet your needs, so if a different format suits you better from week to week I will do my best to accommodate this.
How will I know if Indigo Holistics is right for me?
Finding a therapist you can trust to listen and hold space for you is crucial, and I am fully supportive in your journey. Our introductory session is a good opportunity to assess our compatibility and determine if you would like to go ahead and work together. My dedication to your wellbeing is such that, if at any point you feel our sessions are not the right match for you, I will assist you with finding a more suitable therapist to meet your needs.

I look forward to meeting you.
