About me
My name is Cheryl, and I am a passionate and empathetic person-centered counsellor offering online and phone counselling. I have a background in sexual and domestic violence, interfamily abuse, ADHD and Autism, and ethical non-monogamy/polyamory.
I hold a deep belief in the power of person-centred therapy, where you are the expert of your own life. As such, I will support you in finding ways to express difficult feelings and explore challenging situations without offering advice or telling you what to do.
I work in a trauma-informed and empowering way; working with you to help you find solutions and insights that feel right for you.
I hold a NCPS Accredited level 4 diploma in therapeutic counselling and have completed various CPD (continuous professional development), specifically around trauma, abuse, neurodivergence and GRSD (gender, relationship and sexuality diversity).
Before counselling, I worked for 8 years in a Rape Crisis Centre in various roles, offering trauma-informed, person-centred and empowering emotional support to survivors of sexual and domestic violence. This is something that has heavily informed my practice as a counsellor, especially while working with survivors of narcissistic or emotional abuse.
As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, as a person who practices ethical non-monogamy and as someone with non-visible dynamic disabilities, I know that I bring a unique perspective to the counselling process. I am deeply committed to working in an affirmative manner and embracing diversity in all its many forms. I firmly believe that everyone deserves a space where they can explore their authentic selves without judgment or prejudice.
I have lived experience of neurodiversity (directly and indirectly), especially around ADHD and Autism.
I offer a non-judgmental space to address challenges, enhance communication, and build fulfilling connections. I work online or telephone (dependent on your preference).
Taking the first step towards seeking support can be both courageous and transformative. I invite you to reach out and contact me. I’m really happy to answer any questions you may have and offer a free 30-50 minute introductory session where we can talk about what you are looking for in counselling and how we can work together. There is no obligation to continue after this session!
Please do check your junk/spam folders if you are waiting for a reply from me. I aim to respond the same day to all enquiries.
