About me

Hello, my name is Charlotte I am a qualified and experienced person-centred therapist who has supported children and young people as well as adults. I am passionate about supporting people to flourish and facilitating them in finding their innate worth and value. I provide person-centred therapy to adults, children and young people (CYP).

I have been employed in a variety of educational settings for the past 7 years working with CYP and adults. These settings have included, mainstream primary and secondary schools, Alternative Provision providers, SEMH schools, special education schools, as well as experience of working within Further Education.

My aim as a therapist is to create an environment of empathy, unconditional positive regard, trust and honesty that will enable you to flourish and explore difficult emotions and experiences. Over time we will be able to explore these in more depth and complexity. I will not apply judgements or assumptions but rather work with your reactions and understanding of yourself and your environment. After all, you are the expert on self.

My approach is very much focused on the relational elements of therapeutic models including Person-centred, Integrative and Attachment. The sessions will be led by you and facilitated by myself. As a person-centred therapist, I will help you to explore your own concerns, feelings, beliefs, behaviour, and worldview so that you can become more self-aware and flourish towards self-actualisation.

I perceive the willow tree to be a useful visual image which is indicative of my approach to working with clients. Owing to its ability to bend when faced with challenging weather, the willow’s tree long lifespan and the ease with which cuttings can be used to re-root new trees, it is revered as a resilient and flourishing symbol. With this in mind, the willow tree is a valuable representation of people's resilience in the face of adversity, grief and challenging emotions. It speaks of hope and joy for the future. I would welcome the opportunity to support you in exploring your experiences and facilitating your personal growth within a safe therapeutic space.

What to expect from our sessions

I provide CYP and adults with online therapy sessions. I also provide face-to-face play therapy for CYP. I offer a 20 minute free online video call where we can discuss how we might work together including your personal goals plus any other information which you feel is relevant. We will then reach an agreement amount the frequency and the number of sessions. However, if at the end of this meeting or at any point during counselling sessions you decide that you do not wish to proceed with further sessions; then we will agree to not move forward with any further therapy session; this is your choice.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
