Psychotherapist I Sexologist & Relationship Therapist

About me

Hello and a warm welcome, I’m Charlotte Deverell, an experienced registered Relational Integrative Counsellor & Psychotherapist. In addition I’m also a fully qualified Clinical Sexologist & Relationship Therapist therefore I also offer psychosexual therapy to individuals & couples. Sessions are online via zoom.

You likely find yourself here because you are experiencing difficulties related to identity, sex, intimacy, and/or relationships & feel disconnected from yourself & others. You may have had life experiences which have been challenging to get past or you have experienced trauma that is impacting your ability to show up in relationships, dating & intimacy in the way you would like to.

This often shows up as feeling ashamed & disconnected from your body, pleasure, desires, experiences, sexual orientation or sense of self-worth.

Much of my work with individuals & couples centres on shame reduction in order to be able to be more authentically you & live a life aligned with your values.

I am a Sex Positive Practitioner, Kink Friendly, LGBTQIA+ allied & Neurodivergence aware.

Therapy is a space where we slow things down, make sense of what happened, and gently reclaim choice, safety, and connection. Together, we work towards self-compassion, nervous system regulation, techniques for better intimacy & more authentic, satisfying connection.

You do not have to be comfortable talking about sex to work with me, this can be part of the work!

Concerns I can help you & your partner/s with:

  • Relationship Difficulties; Conflict; Infidelity & Attachment
  • Low Self-Esteem
  • Childhood Trauma; PTSD/CPTSD & Post-Traumatic Growth
  • Sexual Violence/Abuse & Interpersonal Violence/Abuse
  • Guilt, Shame & Loss
  • Narcissistic Abuse
  • Anxiety, Depression, Low Mood, ADHD
  • Life Transitions & Loss of Identity
  • Sexuality & Gender Identity

Areas of Psychosexual Therapy I can help you & partner/s with:

  • Low-Desire; Mismatched Desire & Unsatisfying Sex
  • Changes in relationship structures (ethical non-monogamy)
  • Fertility Difficulties, Loss & Menopause
  • Pelvic pain & Painful sex (vaginismus, vulvodynia, anodyspareunia)
  • Erectile Dysfunction & Premature Ejaculation.
  • Kink, BDSM & Fetish
  • Problematic/Distressing Porn Use & Other Compulsive Sexual Behaviours (sex addiction)
  • Anxiety or Fear around sex or intimacy

If any of the above resonates with you, then you are in the right place.

About me & my way of working:

My approach is compassion focused & shame reduction focused - I can assist you in strengthening and repairing your connection to yourself & to others by identifying your needs & boundaries, then forging a pathway to voicing & honouring them.

I will work with you collaboratively to tailor our work to your needs - I'm a human first & therapist second, who cherishes humour so there is always space for laughter & lightheartedness in what at times may feel quite heavy.

I value getting to know the real you - to hear about your pet's, your favourite movies, your taste in music, because this can also be a part of the work that we do.

I am a queer bi-cultural and bi-lingual therapist and welcome diversity in my practice. I am fluent in Spanish, however at this moment in time I am only delivering sessions in English language.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
